Hi all.

First post here. I've recently purchased a 2011 Evo Bathurst Edition from Victoria. As i live in Canberra, i had to get it roadworthied to get it registered in the ACT.

It passed Vic rego (which doesn't count for much) but failed the ACT one as it was too loud. Being a Bathurst Edition, its got all the TMR goodies on it which includes the TMR exhaust.

So... does anyone know anyone in the canberra area that would want to sell or lend me a stock Evo muffler that i could use to get it roadworthied? Gonna put the TMR one back on straight after anyway.

Cheers,

Sanchez

Go to bunnings and buy steel wool. Bash it up muffler with broom handle....nice quiet ride.
as long as inspector doesnt boost the crap out of it you will be fine.
later, wool will come out as you driving along. Pop! Back to normal

how much wool? Dunno, maybe about a loaf of bread size amount. Seems to stay put for a day or so in 3" pipe

Haha thanks for the tip. I had heard about doing something along those lines but i'd also heard it can cause some serious damage to the exhaust. Thoughts?

I suppose you might explode a muffler.
Thats a risk you take. Fairly unlikely. Ive never popped a muffler.
How often does a potato in the exhaust result in a popped muffler? 9/10 times (or more) the tato just fires out.

Very odd that you can't pass with the TMR edition muffler as this is a factory fitted item and would have had to pass emissions.

I actually worked on the launch of the TMR edition Evo as I was working for Mitsubishi's Advertising agency at the time - so I'm across all of the upgrades.

I'd be fighting this and letting them know this is all factory fitted items and are street legal.
