OK the stroker is slowly progressing. Wiseco pistons are here, Eagle rods here, block is bored,Head is away getting done, Cometic gasket is here.
What do I do for a clutch ?
Car is an every day driver. It will see some sprints ( no drag launches).
I have a new Exedy organic sprung clutch plate that I have not used but would need to purchase a pressure plate to go with it.
I want std or almost std pedal feel.
Who has what and what are your thoughts

I run a 2200lb plate. Fairly standard pedal feel, not too heavy. Clutch selection is what's going to make the "street" feel though. Mine bites like a bitch and won't let go so it's very much not "street".

Im not exactly sure what clutch the ATPGSR runs, however that thing is putting out some serious power, and ive felt the pedal - not heavy at all.

Jon might know more details on this? im pretty sure its a custom job....

if u want street
just go for a exedy sports organic

or get a full faced organic disc with a custom pressure plate (heavier)

Clutch

Hey Andrew chris kelly from the gold coast here had a very indepth conversation with jim berry of jim berry race clutches this morning after discussing the whole crank walk issue and the fact that early evos run no spigot bearing he suggested a carbon ceramic 5 puck rated at 3000lbs he has set up mark kings race car and mark stated himself that it had transformed the car. i found jim berry to be the most knowlegdeable clutch speacilist i have ever spoken to and are in the process of acquiring one. I second that. Jim Berry is prob the best clutch man I've ever come across. Very friendly, and incredibly knowledgable. Knows more about the mitsi clutches than anyone i've ever come across. His 3000lb Pressure plate and carbolic clutches are good enough for cars to get into the 10's yet still be fairly streetable.

Andrew,
I would be interested to know where you got your 64 crank from?

I will need one sooner or later for the 2.3 i will be building

Cheeks, also where did you get yours buddy? $256 i recall you saying you got it for?

Andrew I'm running a 5 puck ceramic clutch in mine and it is very driveable, it does shudder just a little when reversing and if your revs are very low and you try to slip (naturally) But I sure as hell ain't makin huge power but the clutch is good for 400hp @ fly One thing you might want to look into is gear changes at high RPM.
Some covers won't let you change because of the centrifical forces put on the diaphram won't disenguage and hence you can't get the next peg. our MR2 had the problem @ 7500rpm so we went to a full alloy cover (still single plate, but 5 puck) and this sucker will change at 8500 9000rpm no problems.

I think the mitsus are simular so just ask. better to know now!
we waisted $700 before anyone told us the answers

Ours was done by NPC at acacia ridge,
Doug there used to work for Dakin, he knows what he is talkin about too.
