The home of unemployed bogans - Hervey bay,
I have had my SG stripped for a while painting and checking etc. Anyway I saw this box with what looks like factory wiring going to it and just assumed it was a powered internal aerial for the car sound system, but the aerial for that is on the drivers side roof. I really don't know what it is and I'm sure it's something simple, but searching has not yielded any results. I'm not sure what to search for, weird rvr aerial inside car? Drivers side hidden magic unicorn detector? Naked anime with seizure inducing lights being played by scantily clad Japanese models riding the unicorn while having a pillow fight detector?
You can see I've exhausted all potential items using a detailed analysis of the Japanese culture, so I hand it over to the rvr community to enlighten me.

I could be very wrong, and this is just a guess, but could it be the rear window washer tank? The RVR and the Chariot have always had one tank at the front supplying both the front and back screens with wash fluid. And when I run the rear window washer (Not wiper) pump, it always sounds a lot louder than the front washers - which would suggest the pump is somewhere in the body as opposed to the engine bay. It's the tubing that makes me think it's the rear window washer, as similar looking tubing is in the front around the window washers there.

Hope this helps,
Craig.

I dont think so ↑ why would a washer bottle need an aerial...unless its tuning in to the weather channel to catch rain to auto fill? :w00t:

I didn't notice the aerial sorry..

Well it could: If the N11/13/21/23/28 series RVR's were 2014's new model, then perhaps it would have "Weather-Tune-Washer-Bottle-Autofill (TM)". :w00t: Actually come to think of it, that would be my dream car: A 1990's RVR, produced, today. (Yes, at times I'm a bit of a Luddite.)

It looks like the antenna is for the 350-450MHz range (about 16cm of wire out the end?), so more likely what evl20t said.

What evl20t said is right.

I've found it in ASA.

Factory keyless sounds like the winner, thanks for the input everyone ;)
Do you think it's possible to work out the frequency and tune in a fob or is it not worth it. Most of the keyless systems have rolling code remotes, I'm not sure they would put that kind in from factory in 1996. At the very least I might have a shortcut for fitment of a new keyless system.
Some part of me still wishes it somehow involved detection of scantily clad Japanese girls having a pillow fight, maybe I should write to Mitsubishi Japan R&D division. :p
