Subframe/Lower Control Arm bolt issues - not tightening

Hi guys,

In the process of changing the evo 1 over to 5 stud, I went to replace the front lower control arms and it seems that the 2 bolts that go through the front lower control arm, into the subframe and then through to the body now don't tighten properly. They start to tighten up and pull the subframe up against the body, then there is a loud bang and they loosen off again. It seems like the nut is constrained but I am not sure if it is jumping out of its holder inside the subframe or in the body.

Has anyone had any experience with this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like its stripped.
this is on the rear lca bush?
I suppose you can helicoil it.

Or..tap it out and use a new bolt

Maybe the bolt is stripped. Have a look. You should be able to see where its skipping.

The bolt was stripped, so I tapped the nut up in the body and got some new bolts, and its still doing it... Maybe the nut is too far gone?

Id say so.
Either helicoil it or drill and tap next size bigger as jamo says

Yeah should of been clearer..tap the next size up and start fresh.
