I have in the last week, noticed a significant degrading in the handling of my GSR. The passenger side when hitting large bumps or cornering hard starts to creak/clonk a little in what sounds like the middle of the underside of the car. Rear body roll has increased slightly and the back end is more likely to squirm than previously.

I have Koni Reds fitted (and they are notoriously wallowy at the back despite the whiteline swaybar. This is now worse).

I had a brief look under the car, and there aren't any obviously loose bolts on the components, but then again I don't really know what I am meant to be looking for.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ? Thanks in advance.

Check your whiteline sway bar mounting bolts. Make sure they are tight and on the same setting LH and RH

Maybe a $14 pedders suspension check is in order? how new are all the components? You could have a bush that is knackered

i've crawled under the car, and the mounting bolts don't seem to be loose. I think the pedders check is a good idea.

Had a Pedders $14 check today, and they can't find anything wrong. He said that after the three years of the koni reds, perhaps they need to adjust the shocks as they should be adjustable ?

He also mentioned that due to the way these koni's are fitted (they need to fit into the stock strut housing or something along those lines), it could be something loose within them, and that will be difficult to find out.

So I will ring top performance as my next stop

Are you seriously telling me you took your car to pedders and they couldn't think of anything that you could spend your money on? I have never heard of that happening ever!

First i've ever heard of it too! Where did you take it?

That's right..... I went to Pedders in Mitcham. I honestly didn't expect what the outcome was either.

Its difficult to know whether he was being a little selective (as I didn't just go in and say my car should have a check, I mentioned some specific traits the car seemed to be exhibiting), however I can't fault the service.

Pedders didn't find anything wrong on the limited test they do for $14, and one theory was that the "rebound" might need to be adjusted ?

I took the car back to Koni in case the shocks may have been responsible. The guy there seemed to think the creaking may be swaybar mount related. (nice pick jonson)

He also mentioned that the shocks themselves do ride soft, and that the rebound might benefit from being adjusted. He stated that the rebound should be adjusted both front and rear.

I will probably take the car back to Pedders who can do this for me. I understand the GSR's are not as well set up in the rear as the front, so My question is this:

Should I listen to the Koni man and adjust evenly (one turn each shock) or should I maybe only do the front, half as much to compensate for the rear being softer ? Is my logic sound ?

Maybe this reduction in rebound may minimise the sway bar mount creaking ?
