Anyone interested in getting one of this? I can get it for $320. Wonder if it works well with Evoscan.

might be able to slash a few dollars off the price if we get enough interest.

It won't work with evoscan as it is Windows CE based, it is not even x86 compatible (arm based) meaning anything you would normally run on windows will be super slow as it needs to be emulated.

If you are after a carputer, the are some very good options around now since the atom has been out.

I have a small asus eepc that i have attached to the dash on mine, so then i can remove it as needed

Yeah that will run impossibly slow for a windows based system. I have similar issues with the old PIII laptop I have for my car. Even with 512MB RAM and WinXP it still struggles and is slooooooooow as even with a fresh install of Widnows.

Im actually after a small notebook thats Windows based but it must have a 9-pin serial port so I can plug it into my Haltech E8, and it must be small enough to fit into the glovebox. Most notebooks dont have the 9-pin serial which sucks ass (only the new Haltech Platinums came out with USB connection). Do you guys know of a small notebook/laptop thats 1GHZ+ with a serial 9-pin connection?

I know there are plenty of serial to USB connectors out there but 99% of them will not fully translate codes between serial and USB.

I'm in the same boat with my EMS Stinger.

ive succesfully got my laptop with a usb to serial cable working on my haltech e6x.and thats even running windows 7.But the hatech e6x software is win95.
I only got my toshiba u500 13inch laptop because i was in the same boat with my older haltech e6k.but mine dosent have a serial port because i coudnt find anything.the haltech e6k only had a DOS interface software,so usb to serial wont work.
My old laptop was a hp pentium 4 business version NX6120 1.8ghz 15inch ,they made them up to 2ys ago.so it had a serial port but to get the dos program to work i had to make a boot flash drive with dos and the haltech dos program. The only late model laptop ive ever found with serial port is a toshiba tecra but they are 15inch.

Ritmo ct144,it was about $12.at least on windows 7,it gives you the option to change which serial port number .so if your software only allows serial port 1 or 2 then at least it can match it.some wil only give you a serial port number like 10,so older software wont find it

One of the cheapest car PC with screen i can find.. what you guys think?

But can they run Windows based software? If there is a touchpad with 1Ghz processing speed then that would be a good option.

If that adapter TurboVR4 reckons works on Win7 its got a great chance to work on XP too I reckon.

I think for the money, and for a car PC for diags and a bit of Wifi'ing around the home, Im better off getting an Asus Eee PC. Can get them from 7"+, Wifi and 900Mhz+ processor, and 512MB+ DDR RAM . Found out you can also buy a touch screen upgrade for them for under $50, plus a cigarette lighter charger

yea i know asus eee pc is a good choice but the one i found provides dvd player, radio, bluetooth calling, GPS, wifi, ipod, tv and touch screen.

What about New Standalone EvoScan GPS Navigator - Full colour 480x272 Resolution/Datalogger/Reflashing/Touchscreen
