how you gona get the slicks warmed up George?

had a run yesterday and today at winton and went ok.

didnt really go to plan, on mboth days my fastest time was on the 2nd lap of the 1st session and then i couldnt improve.
managed a 1:38.2 yesterday on the toyo RA1s, then a 1:37.3 on the slicks this morning with a passenger.

the slicks are certainly very different in how they behave, had a big gravel trap excusion after a big look up when the tyres were not up to temp properly.

ran out of brake pads yesaterday and had to have some bought up from melboure last night but the brakes were never right today:( ,

running up therr again in 2 weeks and really want to crack into the 36s which Im sure I can with a few more laps.

all in all a good weekend up there though.

you must have been squeezing those butt cheeks hard when you hit the brakes

I know I would have been :D

still very fast, with a very hard to drive car , cant wait to see you punish this track in your evo

I had great fun, can definitely recommend to anyone on here to give it a go. I was worried something would happen to the car as I drove it there, it didn't miss a beat in fact, I was surprised I couldn't even smell a whiff of oil after each session B) , as I have never driven the car like that. Makes me realise that this is the only environment where you can get to use these cars.

Session 1 2.00, driving miss daisy style, mate leaned in the window and said WTF am I doing lol
Session 2: 152, only did 2 laps, had massive fuel surge issue, due to only 1/3 tank fo fuel, dickhead me and for once I had a clear track.
Session 3: 149.00 starting to feel better, after 2 laps I got stuck in traffic.

My road tyes had some grip after the warm up lap then quickly went off. A few more laps and they were really lacking grip. I thought my brakes held up really well. Or maybe that means I wasn't braking hard enough :) My lines through the esses were pretty shocking too, can see where some driver training/experience would do wonders out there.

Major gripe was the ridiculous amount of cars on the track each time, My friend counted 23 cars in my session, no one there was actually checking that the right grouped cars were going out, other drivers were sneaking out and having a go  My group had times ranging by 30 seconds! Most of the time everyone was stuck behind a slower car or trying to get out of the way of a faster one. My brother said he did not get one lap in where he wasn't doing that. Ridiculous.

good to see you had fun:D

but yes in the lower groups the times can vary quite alot, I went out with a guy to give him some tips
in group B and there was it was crazy.

I was in group F and still had a little trouble getting some clear track at times.

even if you do get a decent gap in a group with cars doing similar times you can still catch someone on a cool down lap,
real pain in the arse.

towards the end of the day is the best time to try and cut some laps as people have gone home or broken down;)

Yeah I was thinking that too, wanted to do another session, but thought I shouldn't push my luck and take it home while it was still healthy. Next time I'd like to organise a tow. I was in group B.

that guy in the sti wagon was given a warning for spinning off under yellow flag too.
he carried on like he was in the right - unbelievable:angry: some people really have no idea.

what a knob! he almost took you out there - i would have been pissed off pretty bad if that had happened to me!

He did it a few times, went off the circuit, then drove straight back onto the driving line like I wasn't there. Considering he had 245 RE55s he didn't seem to have any grip, or should I say talent lol

bit of an update from the weekend.

managed my goal and a little more --- until the wastegate pipe cracked and ended my day early:angry: .

but did a 1:35.9!!! in the pig,so pretty happy with that.

not too much Pete, I have probably done more in the last 12 months than I have in the last 10 years.
motorkhanas, hillclimbs, sprints etc... mixing it up helps alot I think.
and being service crew at targa tas teaches you a thing or two aswell:blink: .

My driving is improving more and more every time I go out too, not matter what people say or think I believe you can
always learn something new behind the wheel, be it good or bad.

I have done a few driver traing courses but only basic ones, I actually hope to done a decent one later in the year and to
keep improving as much as possible.

I think there may be a 34 in the pig but we will see I guess,

I also did a 48 in a stock rx8:lol:
