Hey guys,

Im planning on doing a round trip to Tassie in about 2-3 weeks, to deliver some Rims.

The missus is coming too, and we're both big fans of country drives, nature reserves, national parks etc etc

We are going to take the GSR, over on the Spirit of Tasmania, which goes to Devonport. The wheels are going to Dover (correct me if im wrong Scotty??? :? ) So basically I want to know the best route to take there and back again - taking in as much good stuff as possible.

We are planning on going overnight on a Monday (8pm depart, 7am Tuesday arrival) and leaving on Thursday night (8pm depart from Devonport). I can get Friday night off work if I need to, meaning we could leave on friday night (8pm depart) if need be.

Any pointers, suggestions and advice would be much appreciated.

cheers

Dan

ill give you arun down of the good roads to take later on dan.

there are few good routes to take on the way down south.

Dover is the destination Dan :D but can arrange to meet you elsewhere if its more convienient for you?

Highly recommend taking the west coast route on the way down, awesome scenery and Strahan would have to be my favourite place in the state...also the roads are very well suited to a gsr!
Then take the east coast on the way back, really nice beaches and quite a few attractions to take in during the trip.

yep, but youll need more time to do the west coast run

Hmmmm, are you looking to do anything else whilst down, or just driving. Cause a couple of days will only be enough to run down to Scott and then head back up again.

Time permitting a plan could be:

Day 1: off boat, drive via Cradle Mtn down the west coast to Strahan. Should be able to do in a day with time to do a couple of (short) touristy things (the 4 wheelers on the dunes north of Strahan I can highly recommend).

Day 2: Strahan to Hobart. I think the drives about 5 hours. Dover is then further south still. Probably could stay in Hobart, have a look around - I'd come out to dinner or similar depending on work.

Day 3: This is just an idea... Out to Baskerville for private practice. Cost you $100 for as long as you want. Midweek likely no one about either. Again I'd come out work permitting and I'm sure Scott would to - I don't have my evo anymore and I think Scott's is still out of action but we'd be happy to fang yours round

Day 4: Back up to Devonport via the east coast. Going right up to St Helens and then across would probably be a very long day though.

That way you'd take in some nice roads and targa stages.

that sounds great .... :)

only thing is I wont be taking the GSR anymore, im going to be stuck in the EJ8

hey guys,

Im going to be coming down next monday night, so ill be in devonport by tuesday 8am.

We will be staying in Strahan overnight tuesday, and should be in Hobart/ Dover for Wednesday evening, so if you're both free and want to grab a bite somewhere that would be good.

Thursday head up through Bicheno to St Helens, and then friday from St Helens back to Devonport. :)

Sounds good Dan :D
Will give you a call Wednesday around noon to see how you are travelling!

Hopefully I can sort it out with work to make sure I am free.
