Hey guys,

Looking to get a TD05 16G (still considering a 20g though... sorry jay :p)

Kando have them for $665 inc freight, but Forced Performance has them for $599 inc a fuel pump... but I have no idea what they're like for freight, and it isn't clearly written that I can see. Anybody order much through them/know what they're like, or if there's alternate suppliers? Trying to simplify modding my car. So far it's taken longer and blown budget allocated to it...

Thanks

the last FP fuel pump I had shat in three or fours hours running, walbro copy that has the look of a chinese one.

turbos are good tho ....shipping from them is pretty expensive when compared to other stuff out of the U S

Definately won't be installing one of those then! Thanks. Kando is likely the cheaper option then.

Fp E316g are genuine mitsi.
Kando's one im pretty sure are aftermarket. As they say "Performance Thrust Bearing Kit with larger thrust ring and flinger"

If your only after a 16g not 20g, id get a genuine one, but maybe try get one through once of the re sellers for FP, they may use a cheaper shipping option, may take longer but not likely cost ~300 that FP's option will cost, maybe around 150 with the slower option.

For FP freight just go through to the checkout and put you postage details in, its pretty expensive, best off finding one of their reseller by goggling who else sells one of their own turbo's say a 68HTA, then ask is they sell the E316g from FP as well.

Is genuine worth paying the extra for over a kando one? The kando ones I've only read good about? Their braided line install kit in about another 75 delivered as well.

Considering buying a dump pipe for it too; The megan racing one seems to be pretty cheap. TnT Performance in NZ is meant to be a retailer for them, but their website seems to not be working - anybody know about them/sourcing such a dump pipe? The JM one looks nice, but I can't afford that sorta coin atm. (and it's only for a daily :p)

DSM Parts have the dump pipe too, but I can't see mention of international shipping. One ebay store has it also, but need to contact them for shipping cost, and I don't imagine it'll be cheap. NZ would be cheaper supplier if they have them I think?

Runabout. And $$$. Can't justify spending the extra on it. By the time I get that posted, it's probably double the price? Unless you know of getting it for cheaper than
And the car is only going to have a chip in it, designed for a 16G, 2g maf and evo 8 injectors. Just want a quick runabout. Other car I can go faster in (anybody wanna hook me up for a blue slip? :p)

Just ordered a td05 and fitting kit from kando. Got it for a good price delivered after sending them a message asking about the items :) and megan racing dump pipe. :)

Turbo and fitting kit came today. Looks noice... but small!!! WHY DID I SETTLE FOR A 16G!?!?! :p

oh well! lol. Should still be a quick daily when I get the time to throw this into it :)

We have a Kando turbo core on the rally car, they look (and are) well made..... HOWEVER, when it arrived we sent it off to Adelaide turbo services for the bearings to be checkd and replaced with genuine ones, good thing too as Bill from ATS found that there was still metal particals in with the bearing from when the machning was done, it probbaly would have been okay, but not lasted as long as you would expect from a genuine core.

In total the cost of the Kando 16G and having the bearings replaced with genuine items it came in at just a little cheaper than a brand new genuine core from Ralliart, but its worth it for piece of mind, as your $600 will look expencive if the turbo turns into a paperweight.

bearing? machining? confused. Where abouts were the particles? They machined it and didnt clean it out before putting the bearings in?

Just not sure what I should be checking for metal particles. Flushing it with kerosene might clear out anything?

no dont do it yourself.. take it to a turbo place, they will pull the turbo core apart, have them remove and check the bearings and replace with genuine mitsubishi bearings.. then they will re-balance the turbo and it will be as good as a genuine one.

You may get a lifetime of perfect running from the Kando one, but there is a reason for the price difference between Kando Dynamics ($600 bucks) and Ralliart ($1300, just for the core, and thats with our discount) more than just Misubishi making some extra $$.

Its your decision about what to do, I wanted to spend the extra $$ to ensure the turbo was perfect, and as good as the genuine item.
