Anyway took the car for a few runs down the strip a week ago, the usual high rpm launches with a clutch i already knew was a bit stuffed, got a best 60ft time of 1.88 seconds but got worse through the night (up to 2 seconds).
Had no drive a few days later and this was the result.
Replacing the clutch at 3zerocrowds house in his garage.
out of interest i would like to here the average clutch life of other members in GSR's.

Cheers dave

Wow, you minced up that stock clutch on the right. They never last long at all with a bit of abuse. That Exedy h/duty on the left is better, depending on how much hp you're running  Lifespan of a clutch depends on how much torque you have and how nice you are to it  If you havent matched up the right clutch and pressure plate clamping force to your setup you can kill them in just a single day at the runs

Haha nicely toasted!

I usually run ceramic clutches, which only seem to last about 12 months. Good for launching, average durability - ceramics dont like being slipped at all, not ideal if you car is daily driven like my GSR was. Dumping the clutch at the lights every time wouldnt be ideal

It may help you make a better choice if people also advise their approximate power output figures

Jonspec organic-ceramic hybrid. 2400 or 2200 lb plate. Used, abused, launched a LOT and still perfect.

... 12 months later.

Yours was from memory:

Custom 4 puck ceramic
2200lb pressure plate
6 sprung centre
32 rivets..

Mines identical to that but its a 2000lb one.

Evo has ~190kw and runs 12.4 @ 112mph.

Not bad hey ;)

power output

Not sure what the power output of my gsr is but it ran a 14.588 quater running 8pounds with a garret T25 turbo, vr4 dump pipe, and three inch exhaust. Will be runninng 14 pound next time with the new clutch, guess ill see how she holds up.
:D :D :D
cheers dave

*Mod edit 3zercrowd*

Its a T25 not a td28 :p
Ill come out in a min and help you put the gearbox in :p

Oi and stop using my log on bitch :p

youda I would have thought you would have got a quicker time than mid 14's with those mods..?

Yeah but i still have a stock intercooler on, and 8pound is only standard boost. I might also have mention the slipping clutch part in this thread somewhere.
and yeah stock clutch had dk on it

I realise it has been said before but I think it needs to be said again.

Please stop posting your 1/4mile time Jstyle.

I have seriously lost count. I would be bloody surprised if anyone doesn't know what you got.

Cheers

yeah i realise that  ... but you didnt mention when the quarter time was run and if the clutch was slipping at the time. I guess it was - I was just inquiring.

its okay to be jealous of others. there there emo

Yup, Jim Berry makes some really good single plate clutches but he admittedly advised that they are really heavy on the left thigh and bearings (not good for evo crankwalk). From what I understand after speaking to him earlier in the year he can modify the Exedy heavy duty pressure plate to handle 3000lbs+ clamping force and can custom make you whatever type clutch you want i.e. carbotic, dual friction etc for around $1000 delivered. The man makes them for all kinds of motorsport and is considered a guru in the biz.

Mmm interesting a 5 puk.. i would of thought it would of been atleast a 4.. $1000 for a clutch thats pretty expensive.. mmm but i guess you get what you pay for.
