Dear Members,

With the EXPLOSION of Team4G thanks mainly to being dumped at the top of googles listings for most 4g related searches, our hits/pageviews and bandwidth are going not just insane but beyond belief.

If we continue this growth pattern for another two months, we'll have outgrown THIS server and be enroute to outgrowing the new one by May 2007.

The next step up is a dedicated server and those bastards cost 200+ dollars per month.

I need a revenue stream, I can't possibly afford that on my own and google ads are the ones that are looking me in the face.

Those that know me know that i've been violently opposed to the concept of google ad's since day one. However, it's now getting to the point where I can't afford to not have them there because I just can't afford the cash that the website costs.

Our two sponsors have contributed of course, but without more interest I am resorted to finding other income streams.

Please discuss, you have a week before we take it to a moderators/admin vote and move from there.

The google ad's will likely appear in a box just under the logo at the top, if they are implemented I would like that each of you click at least one at per visit. Click, open in new window, close window. 3 seconds work to help your favourite car forum stay online.

Please, incase you're wondering... I don't pocket the cash from Team4G. I reinvest it in services/servers/merchandise/etc. Although I will say right now that Team4G owes me in excess of $4000 AUD even after the money that's come in (which to date is much less than 1000 dollars).

you have to be careful with google adds. If they notice too many people clicking the adds on a regular basis, you will lose all you have earnt for that month, and they will delete your account.

So I would recommend you dont ask people to click your adds!

I made $200aud in a month with google ads

i personally dont have any issues if we have some google ads....
at the end of the day its gonna keep our good ol car site up and runnin....
another thin is that we could do a monthly cruise for a lil donation on keepin the car club up and runnin....

even if ppl donate $1-$2 is better than nothin.
think of it, all the gsr's and vr4's and cordia's etc etc
we would have of plenty of interest and would be able to raise enuf money to fund the club easily....
and if ppl are gonna winge about a cppl $$ then obviously they dont see how much this club means to some ppl and the benefits involved.
I know i have saved at least $50 on mechanic fees since i have learnt things on the site myself :lol:

Have a look at http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html another forum i frequent uses this host and in the 3yrs its been going the only downtime the forum has had was when the admin took it down.

From what i can gather they have good plans, and especially for the price, worth a look.

Also, I intend to keep the forums hosted here in Australia on Aussie servers because of the serious difference in speed.

Also, we use reseller plans for reasons that may or may not become clear in the near future and are therefore more expensive.

Actual monthly bandwidth is something in the vicinity of 25-28gb, and the growth atm is abour 16-18% per month compounded. As for hdd space... nearly 4gb.

Ahh ok, well ive never had issues with download speed, we host alot of movies, and .iso images for people to download and the download speed is pretty damned good. Lemme show you a history of a file i downloaded.....

theres imageshack & theres a movie file server (cant remember name) that people can upload to.

I guess you could always do something like this with varing prices as well....
- bronze (stickers, keyring)
- silver (stickers, shirt, keyring, go carting day)
- gold (like includes stickers, gocart ticket race day?, car event, something else)

money could then be used to run cost of website etc. I think gsr/evo club has something like that?
