Things to consider after blown motor- oil system

As I’ve been researching motor rebuilds I’ve come across a couple cases where people have had multiple failures on new motors put down to oiling problems, and the possibility of reusing parts like oil filter housings and not cleaning out oil pumps and then they think that the shrapnel is then clogging oil to bearings in the newly built motor not long after the motor is run in. I want to avoid any such stuff ups.

When i blew the motor (it looks to be due to a shattered piston) the oil and coolant have mixed together as the bore was pierced. So I’m thinking the oil cooler lines need to be somehow cleaned and get a new cooler core.

Anything else I should be considering as I’m going to freshen up another motor and put it in the car.
 
having spent many years in the heat exchange industry....i found oil coolers and inter coolers to act as fantastic filters!!

If there was a lot of fine particulates evident in the oil.....back flush the oil cooler with solvent of kero while watching for metal contamination{shit it is hard to type when you're pissed}

If you find any particles chuck it out and get a new one.....either after market of a good used one.

Hoses are easy to clean...soak ....flush....soak....flush till you are happy
 
There is talk of painting the inside of blocks in the places exposed to non pressurized oil. Apparently this will seal the block allowing no loose casting flash/sand/metal a chance do drop from the casting into the engine. It also allows the oil to return to the sump quicker and more efficiently.
Also, in the event of a failure, the inside of the block can be easily cleaned of contaminates.
Now the real gossip starts, I have heard from a couple of different people the paint to use is motor winding paint, the stuff used for painting the copper windings of electric motors and generators. I think it is a urethane 2pak paint.
Obviously preparation will need to be good as you don't want paint flaking off and clogging oil pickup.
