thrust bearing

Help Support 4GTuner:

If you're referring to the clutch one, I would stick to the OEM Mitsubishi bearing, my experience with aftermarket ones have all been extremely crap.

I hear you Mat, for some reason most of the aftermarket ones I've installed always seem to be noisy virtually from the word go. This includes the ones that come in Exedy kits as well. I've checked the boxes the bearings come in and even the ones made in Japland seem to have problems. Seems pretty hit and miss on whether it will go 'ssshshhhh' when in neutral or not. Sometimes you feel like putting your foot on the clutch just to shut the damn things up. I suppose thats what loud zorsts and stereos are for lol :D

Ive never had any noise issues with fitting these NSK's

VR4,CE9A,GSR: NSK Release Bearing $44.00

Angelo has one of those NSK bearings in his car. It came in the PBR clutch kit I installed in it and its very noisy unfortunately. It has been noisy immediately after installation.

The ones we got with my brother's Exedy H/Duty Ceramic button clutch were SKF brand from Japan (pictured below). They are noisy buggars too but not as bad an Angelo's NSK bearing.

I'm making it a habit to take photos of them just for this very reason. This is a good topic actually as its best to know which one to use because if you get a noisy one you're stuck with it til next clutch or gearbox change

I wonder why its hit and miss that sometimes the bitches are quiet on some installs and others are noisy. Balancing the bottom end couldnt play a part in it as I've had that done to Mik-es engine when I rebuilt it in December and he has recently had his gearbox rebuilt so I cant assume excessive vibration or play in the spigot shaft either. The clutch kit is a new Exedy too...

how long have you had it in there for?
the one that came with my exedy clutch kit was in the car for about a year before it started rattling its head off

um i've had it in for almost a year matty..

the last clutch i had also had an NSK bearing and that lasted me 3 years plus 6 months which the previous owner had owned.

i have john, i think they are the ones that usually come in exedy kits arent they?

No these are different part number to the NSK's that come with Exedy clutch kits ;) same brand... different part number

I think my mechanic put in NSK in mine a while back. I think the box is still with the clutch box :)

Does get a little noisy, we'll after a few hours of driving and listening to it at 3am without music on.
