Hey Guys,

I have just removed the ballance shafts out of my 4g63 and decided to replace the timming belt at the same time..

After reasembaly i installed the timming belt and could not get the marks on the cam gears to line up, one tooth the marks were low and the other tooth the marks were high of the head bloch line??

I have the cam gears with the locator pins upward.

Is this common and are the lines better of high or low??

Keep in mind this is a new race belt..(they're really tight)

Cheers
Ben

Hi dude, you have to line up the cam sprockets correctly when setting it up which means one will have to be held in position when placing the timing belt on otherwise the valve springs/cam will rotate the assembly out of alignment. To save me from writing it you are best off to follow the manufacturer workshop manual which explains it very well. Download this 3.59MB file http://www.ecanfix.com/users/manualcd/gift/dsm/1g-90-92-4g63overhaul.pdf (right click and 'save target as') and follow pages 11C-39 to 11C-45
