Just wondering what to look for when buying a VR4(problem bits)?

Whats better J or A spec?

does all the evo 1,2,3 parts fit the running gear?

I have found a VR4 I like and it has 200wkws looks nice as well or would you go for a stocky and build up from there?

Thanks
Travis

I chose a VR4 over an EVO.............

thats gotta say something........

Get the car checked over by someone who knows what they're on about, check the T4G sponsors list.

IMO J-specs are the money, cosmetically better looking, generally lower kms, and slight power advantage from stock over the Aspecs.

Apart from g/box and diff ratios, Evo 1-3 setups are very similar, and good gains are possible from adding the bolt on bits associated with them.

If you want to save yourself some cash, I'd look into a car thats been modified, as long as its been done well.

200atwkw is certainly mid 12sec zone.

what dre said

aus delivered cars are usually worth more (not sure why?)
jspecs are quicker, but depending on the year, need a brake upgrade (pretty cheap) to make it up to aus spec brakes..

better due to brakes.. lol
nah, but they are generally in better shape..

and insurance is easier..
also stronger bumpers.. lol

thats the only main thing i see better than the jspecs

that and the single board ecu

i dont know if i'd consider them better condition. you have have to be careful when importing.

aus spec add at least 100,000km's too

over here, vr4's were bought as a quick car. people who wanted a quick car bought them. in japan, they are family cars.

aspec bumpers are stronger.... and heavier... and don't look as good :p

*fires baz up*

nah i agree
most vr4 owners i see dont even really know what they are..
lots of grannies driving vr4's..

brakes
brake booster
ecu
shitty cooler
bigger runner intake manifold
bigger bumpers

hmm thats it

Thanks so far guys, but madrx that cordia looks tuff, I just spent $2500 on my 1.8 in the cordia so to do a vr4 now its to late but I will still have it as well as a vr4 or evo( for a while anyway)

so far I heading towards Aspec with the right mods

I spotted a stock white VR4 driving through Frankston with a lady owner, I keep trying to speak to her but Im always just missing her.....lol

Mad rx that would be sweet I have never been in a vr4 cordia

Entaran I had a look and its says its got a evo 2 turbo on it. I remember when he bought the turbo from evolutionary we both rocked up the same day, I was going to by the cooler but ended up with a new one.
DJBs car is very clean
