Hey guys, just posting this up so I can get a better understanding.

I've noticed that when I put maybe a litre or so more of oil in my 93t it seems to run better/smoother. I put in a bit more than I probably should have last week and I know its not good to have TOO MUCH oil in there as it can lead to pressure problems and leaks, etc.

I noticed that boost doesn't come on like normal. And when it does, it doesn't hold it for long. And this is exactly after adding the extra oil so it was an easy comparison. Any ideas? Im going to let some oil out obviously but I just wanted to know why this happens. Why does having an excess amount of oil lead to delayed boost? Or is this just a random thing thats happening to my 93t at the moment?

Just curious if this has happened to any of yous.

The crank is smashing into a concrete layer of oil. That's going to slow everything down.

yep cheers for that. I knew it obviously wasn't a good thing so I'm granny driving everywhere for now lol

Thanks again guys.

Just drain the excess out of the sump. Keep checking it on the dipstick and then make sure it's a the full mark on the stick. A tiny bit over full won't hurt, but too much will just create excess pressure in your system.

Yeah I know thats what I have to do, but I was only asking as to what was happening "in there" so I can understand.
Whats to understand? You have put more in than what is recommended by the manufacturer.

There's obviously something else going on other than your oil level. The crank turns pretty quickly so I don't think that the oil will cause enough resistance to effect boost levels.

Have you checked for boost leaks?

I've got a couple weeks leave coming up so all tests and oil changes will be done then. Cheers man.

How much oil did you put in?
Yeah pretty heaps lol like up where the dip stick starts to twist. I mean, I get that its not good and all but part of me is hoping that something goes pop or bang or crack and I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO get a new engine...preferably 63t lol

How many liters did you put in?

Update guys...relieved the engine of about 8-20 litres of oil    leaving close to the recommended amount by the manufacturer...LOL

Quick blat around the corner to pick up the young fella and straight away felt the difference. Boosted hard and consistent. Even though it wasn't an ideal situation with the excess oil Im still glad I got to feel the difference for myself. If I were to describe it to anyone else who didn't know any better, I would say it's like trying to do a 100 metre sprint on a full stomach. Engine was really sluggish but now it's breathing! lol Now to get on to some FRESH oil..LOL
