Any idea how much hp a lj torana with a 202 would need to beat a stock AUS VR4?????

The stock 202's only made either 82kw or 100kw depending which year/car they came out in!! You can give them a run for their money in any NA four cylinder 1.8 EFI + these days!! hahahaha :lol: Considering a VR4 stock has 145kw lets say and is a heavy beast, the LJ would still need an extra 30-50% more power to match it. But the AWD take off from a VR4 will still get the advantage. Have a look here for specs of stock Holden engines: http://www.southgate.com.au/history.htm

nah just one of my friends (the same one i am desperately trying to find cheap suspension for) friends has a lj and reckons it is an animal and that all "GAYLANTS" are crap and no one has one because of this reason!!!
Mind you he was on the line with my bro(MADVR4) and didn't even give it a go, because appartently his engine at the time (186) was crap!! but now he is getting a new one (202) that the galant will be nothing!!!

the new so called super engine is not a 202!!!!
186 with yellaterra cylinder heads, yellaterra rockers, some kind of big cam but not sure what brand it is!!!!

why does a 35 yo kingswood motor need straight cut gears?
id be suprised if it put a car on a sss pulsar with a pod & 15 deg timing, even with 5k of pointless mods
dont get me wrong, im all for old cars, theyr part of motoring heritage, but in all seriousness, old holdens use old holden technology, shich is even older gm technology which wasnt really all that good to start with! (very reliable motors the ol 186, i'll give em that!!)
thats just my opinion, & we all know what opionions are like...

Generally i agree with the above, however, lj's can be made to go hard. they are suprisingly light remember. I have seen LJ's with well built 202's do mid 13's at Willowbank (admittedly with slicks), but the same money spent on a vr4 would give a much faster/ better alround car.
