Guys I've just about had it with my Transfercase!!!! It's a 1.8 litre gsr with 330kw atw, Ive gone through 2 transfercases already, mind u I launch pretty hard and just to add its a full evo 3 running gear with LSD box and diff, is there enything I can do to strengthen the Transfercase?

If you have a spare $1750 Shep Racing sell upgraded billet transfer case shafts... but they're probably Aussie made here by PAR anyway?

I've just ordered a par built transfercase, $1900 later :(
Oww well that means I won't be breaking them enymore lol thanks guys

Good stuff. You'll probably start breaking something else.

As the above guys are implying. It is probably not the hardware, more driver technique.

Try and pre load your drive train when launching to reduce the initial shock of the parts from zero to launch rpm. Do this by using the hand brake and getting your clutch to just bite before dropping the clutch.

Remember with the par xfer, you will need to upgrade your tailshaft yoke to suit.

Rob, the shep racing ones are very different to the par ones. Shep doesn't recommend modifying the original xfer like par do. He thinks the coating is damaged during the maxing work and the strength is compromised. Shep has full billet items internally.

I enquired recently and he was in testing stages.

You serious Baz? Dont PAR manufacture a completely new shaft in their transfer case rebuild? for that sort of money I thought they would have beefed it up with new guts rather than 'treat' the oem internals.

Shep need to be provided with a transfer case core before you can buy their $1750 rebuilt transfer case. Their version includes beefier [virtually] unbreakable shafts.
Shep also have a $680 tailshaft yoke upgrade. aaaaahhh money..... who would have thought years ago that many of us will be spending more money on drivetrain upgrades than buying replacement 2nd hand cars lol

bazz thanks for that, were do i find a tailshaft yoke to suit ?

try Hardy spicer.....I work for them as a rep. They supply parts to most drive shaft shops so...just go direct, we have 14 branches australia wide so bound to be one in you state

I suppose you dont want to hear about another cheaper alternative now eh? lol
I only stumbled on it the other day when reading about Tim's ride on TMZ Performance website.
He now uses a Boostin' Performance upgraded transfer case which uses a beefy 300M shaft.
Plus it comes with a beefier yoke as well !!
Cost $775US exchange (approx $740 exchange + shipping)
Look at pics.

300M transfer shaft upgrade to manual transfer case including upgraded yoke to suit !!!!

PS: TMZ also uses a Frontline Fabrication custom made brace on the side of the transfer case as apparently they can twist too on launch at high rpm.
