Hey all just got told there's a lot of stuffing around to fit a holset hx40 into the vr4. Does anyone know a turbo that will give me the some power output but not as much hassles? Or wether it really is that hard?

I'm looking at around the 500hp mark hopefully. I have a 92 aspec vr4 with a 63t 2.0L with all forged internals. I was looking at a td06 20g but I think that will max out at around the 400hp mark. Also looked at the gt pumps 762gtp but I think that will aslo have fitting issues.

I did try to search but couldn't find it. Any help would be mean

Thanks

I'm selling my forced performance 86hta with tial exhaust housing if you want to save some coin. It's only done about 2000kms on my car just haven't had a chance to take pics of it yet and advertise

Oh yea cool thanks guys, I just got told it was a lot of mucking around. I had a td06 20g on my old one back home and it was easy.

I guess if I can find a custom manifold it shouldn't be too hard to fit in. It must get hot in there? I have a water to air set up already but don't know if that would be good enough on a track day like powercruise.

You can get aftermarket "bolt-on" exhaust housings for them from the States which they call "BEP" (Bulls Eye Power) Housings. They are only .55A/R which imo is a bit of a mismatch on a turbo as big as an HX40. They might work better with an HX35, but if you have already bought the HX40 you're better off sticking with the 12cm T3 housing which will mean you'll have to change pretty much everything associated with it like exhaust manifold, wastegate(s) dump, cooler piping and lines.

What is your setup at the moment?

The 86HTA is one hell of a turbo... for the right price I would seriously consider one especially if your car is mainly street driven!

Yea I did see those, you can also get a t3 .70a/r one aswell. Obviously with a 7 blade from a hx40. But if I was to build a whole new turbo to fit I'd just ask mark from gt. I'm hoping to get to the 500hp mark. Give or take lol

I have an evo 7 aswell so that's the weekender, the vr4 will just be the odd drive and maybe powercruise or evo nats. I had planned on running a twin tial setup of the ex manifold but most people I've seen with them have been fab'd up. I'm not too worried about having to get all the piping, coolers, manifold, fuel and oil rails if they're proven combos that someone else has tried.

Um it's a 2L with forged internals 9:1, 272s, cam gears, heads been machined, lifters, springs, retainers, haltech. I think it just has a big 16g on there at the moment. The guy I brought it off hadn't made a decision on turbo so he didn't really wanna go much further. Then he got his mrs pregnant.

I mean it's not gonna happen straight away but the quicker I can find a proven turbo setup to get to my power goals, the quicker I can start. But I'm liking the sound of the 86hta

Cheers
