Turbo Rebuilds

the original Turbo is fairly stuffed, I think there's a little wear in the shaft.

Do any of you guys know the difference between Flat back and Super back Turbo's.


I'm rebuilding a TD04L-13g and a TD05-14b

When looking at the types of kits that are available, the question Super back or Flat back is asked ??

What are these Turbo's ??

The difference is on the compressor wheel. Superback has a thicker base than a flat back. You can see it

it is quite easy, just don't snap the shaft when tighten the nut up... like I did

Gud to see im not the only one to snap thread off shaft.
New shaft no balancing still running fine, so ima gona agree parts individually balanced.

I have made a torque wrench my friend for just that reason, the rules of the universe specify that the chances of breakage are directly proportionate to the difficulty of the location and cost of the part.

But if all the dills who have ever worked on my beloved GSR :wub: turned up... no shortage of cowboys, thats for sure!
