i no this has been dicussed befoer and have done alot of searching/reading on this topic just want to no peoples personal opinions.

I have been offered a genuine evo 3 big 16g for a reasonable price but after reading about them am considering a td0520g or even a td06 20g
from reading the td05 20g sounds like it would fit what im after
good power still with quick spool up

wondering what experience people have had with these turbos and which they would reccomend

Not sure how much power im chasing exactly.
i think id be happy with 220-250awkw
not sure what its making now though
atm i have ic and 2.5inch piping
custom dump 3inch exhaust
custom exhaust manifold
720cc injectors, walbro
chipped ecu
looking at installing some cams
and maybe a little headwork

FYI a TD06-20G in a TD05 water cooled housing will not support the power you need.

If your after 250kw, i would suggest you speak to Kyp at ATP (www.atpturbo.com.au) Ask him about his 'franky' spec turbos for 4G63ts. I think what i had in my 93T would be perfect in a 2 litre, quick spool and does not run out of puff and still has enuff in it to support 270kw + (my old gsr with a stock head/cams 4g93t ran 11.28@124mph) using this turbo and it was hell quick on the street and there was no lag at all.

also figure out what your budget is.

TD05H hybrids are pretty much bolt on (maybe 1 intercooler pipe needs chanring).. so its basically watever the turbo costs ie.. 2k

If you wanted to go a GT style turbo you will need new oil/water lines dump pipe/intercooler piping and all that so its roughly around $800 /1000$ (more if it needs an external gate)dearer to get a GT style turbo put onto your car.

thanks for that jon
ill do a little more research and decide what my budget is
and try and keep to that. maybe i have to take small steps.
ill definitely look at that link and talk to them

thx

It really depends on what you want to do with your car Jerome.
A 50trim turbo like mine would get you to that power goal easily, but I don't see full boost
( 30psi+ ) until about 4500rpm. But it is a bolt on turbo which is easy to fit and fun on the street as well.
Either setup would get you there, it's really up to your personal preference really.
The new range of PTE billet turbos are really performing well in the US too.

thanks tim
i guess i really have to decide what i want
where i want to go with the car...given the budget i have
maybe getting the dsm link first would be a better option
see what i can get out of the turbo i have now before i
look at upgrading

Dougmo is running 275kw @ wheels with his 16g. It's possible, you just have to be prepared to support it.

I have no intention of upgrading past my big 16g as I feel the maximum potential of them hasn't been reached yet when strapping an even bigger turbo onto your car is just easier in general.

It also depends how you define fast spool. If my turbo wasn't making full boost by 3800/4000 I'd pull it off and put a smaller one on.

agreed... i like to see the boost gauge climbing at 2500... dont wanna have it screaming just to see some boost while cruising... but i'm a bit old school... hate reving an engine hard all the time.... unless i'm really thrashing it i usually change 4-4.5k

Actually George's turbo is a long way from a 16g. About the only similarity between it and a 16g is the front cover. Have a look at page 92 of his rides thread.
I thought the power figure was too high for a 16g at 21psi.
Still a great power figure though!
