Just wondering where people have mounted their tweeters when installing a set of splits in our cars. Mine are currently in the GSR stock lower-dash location, but am looking for better height/detail.

Was going to see where others have mounted theirs before i embark on fibreglassing up a new set of A-pillers like i had in my previous car.

Mines here.

I just installed Rob on the power mirrors backing plate...

Only did it there coz we didnt ewant to cut holes in the doors and re-run wires back from the crossover through the door to have it mounted in the cabin somewhere else.. this way its all in the door :)

Hopefully Rob will post a pic of what it looks like now with all the tim and stuff on

Here it is... its up high enough and can be angled toward the passenger or the driver, whichever way your slant is :) No hacking up dash or other trims, those black plastic mirror covers are piss easy to replace.

marinetowing I like what you did for the mid's grill!

Didn't really want to drill a hole in the trims, just not my cup-o-tea.

I'm liking the spot behind the mirror, my crossovers are massive (17.14cm x 11.43cm x 4.76cm) and boot mounted, So either way i'm passing the cable through something :(

Time to crack out the FG on the reverse of the mirror

Double sided tape on the dash ftw!

As you would know, with tweeter it is all about being directions. You want them to be pretty much smack bang where your head will be.

for best results aren't they meant to be no more then 30cm away from the mid ???

"if" you were after purist sound quality then yes, Point of source is great! however doing that requires that you either move the mid higher or the tweeter lower.

Moving the tweeter lower will lower the sound stage and ruin the overall sound, although you will have no seperation of sound. Moving the mid up higher is the most ideal solution, but not really practical.

With the tweeter up high and the mid down low, you can get a fairly decent stage height with minimal seperation, with only the lower end sounding a little low..

Can conteract most of the seperation effect with a little time correction and eq manipulating on individual channels

I was origionally going to use here... just hole saw into that panal and 45' flush mount. Till i found out that it's part of the dash and I cbf removing the dash/windscreen for that.

The tweeters are fairly chunky, so wouldn't hide away as nice as yours :(

Cool.. Thanks for that..... So, an option could be (and depending if you is a 5" or a 6"+) put the mid in the lower part of the dash, and the tweeter in the door or top backing of the mirror.. That could give you the best of both worlds.. But would probably be a bit of customising..

Would possibly work, but the difference between the lower dash and factory door location wouldn't be much (i wouldn't think). You would also lose midbass, because wouldn't be using the door as an enclosure :(

Ideally you want a decent set of 3 ways. Mount the tweeter and midbass (normally 1" and 2.5-3" in size) in the a-piller and then mount the mid-bass in the door (6.5-8" normally). The lower the frequency, the less directional the sound. So your ears can't tell "as much" that the mid bass is in the doors. This is also why you can't tell that subwoofers are in the boot of a car (if installed and setup correctly)

Hmm .. I see what you mean.. I am yet to put any sound system in mine.. I have all the stuff from my Sonata, but have not had a chance to play around with the Lancer yet..
