I have just rebuilt my evo and have put an exedy twin plate in it. I'm finding that its a real pain to drive. I know there is a rattling noise when you press on your clutch pedal but I also have a loud (almost grinding noise) when letting off the accelerator at high rpm. The higher the rpm, the louder the noise is. The friction point also changes from up high to down low whilist driving in traffic. Could it be a bad install ?

In an auto if it rattles on decell, it's the 4 convertor bolts not having loctite & not done up with a breaker bar.
I'm guessing your flywheel bolts aren't tight enough & maybe no loctite was used.
Cheers !

sounds the same as another car I have driven with an exedy twin plate.
Very tricky friction point and the point of engagement changes as it heats up.

I am a massive fan of all of exedys single plate kits but my experience (limited) with the twin plates
has not been too good.

Friction point changing is common with twin plate clutches I'm still not used to mine but I just ride it off the lights. It's a more forgiving clutch that it won't kill it as easy as a single plate. I ride the hell out of mine off the line at the drags.

they're noisy rattlie pain in the arses,
one minute it is close to the floor the next it's high
the squeek the take up friction
at idle they sound like they are going to drop out on the road.
But they BITE like a BITCH and only slip when they are truly shagged

you most definatly need to ride the buggers to leave the lights or she'll stall so you rev the begeebers out of them and every other ricer
thinks you want to race.

I have a quarter master twin plate and when it dies I'm going back to a full alloy cover single plate.

look they have their place but not in an everyday driver.

just my 2cents -

Sounds standard for a twin plate to me... Mine is direct clutch and it makes noses on devel and clutch in..

Cheers for the input guys. I was getting a little worried. Guess I'll just get use to it. Anyone heard anything about the ORC twin plate before?
