UK TIME ATTACK TEAMS TAKE ON JAPAN!

tanewssmall.jpg

We are pleased and extremely proud to announce that after months of planning, four competitors and their teams/cars from the UK Time Attack series will be shipping out to Japans famous Tsukuba circuit to participate in Time Attack at the Revspeed Tsukuba Super Lap event. This event is held by magazine publishers Revspeed in Japan and the cars will race against the clock alongside Japans finest Time Attack cars and tuners.

Held at Tsukuba circuit on December 6th 2007, the event will mark the first time any UK tuner cars have visited Japan to race and it is anticipated as well as the actual teams, UK fans will fly out to Japan to support the UK teams in their plight to set a quick time at Tsukuba. Tsukuba is the proving ground for Time Attack in Japan therefore perfect for the UK teams to pitch themselves against the challenging circuit where the current record holders are HKS Japan with a 53.589 in their Carbon Evo 9 CT230R.

The cars and teams representing the Series are :

The aim of the trip is the introduction of UK tuner cars to the Japanese market and to compare the differences between UK cars and Japanese cars to further promote the teams and of course the UK Time Attack Series.

The adventure has been put together by the Time Attack Series with enormous help locally from Do-Luck Japan and JapaneseUsedCars.Com, both of whom are current UK Series sponsors who extended their help to make this happen and for their efforts we are extremely grateful and will supply local support in Japan alongside our good friends at Toyo Tyres who will be providing local tyre support for all UK cars.

EXCELLENT!!!! Could be the first step toward something new and exciting hopefully :) I wanna see international J-Spec race car events being held more often... maybe even a world circuit i.e. Jap import tuners racing circuits in various countries around the world for the world title  . Would sure as hell be more exciting than Holden vs Ford or Formula 1 that we've currently got  Would get more bums on seats too I reckon!! :D

The main contenders normally are R34 GTR's and Evo 7's and 8's there is an RX7 which is pretty quick aswell.

they would probably have the e9 MR modded by now as i know hks kansai have one and another tuning house also does.

The current OEM chassis Time Attack record holder is the all carbon-fibre HKS CT230R Lancer Evolution, posting a time of 53.589 seconds. This car actually caused a bit of controversy, it's much criticized for its "all carbon fiber" body (unlike its other rivals on the track) that was said to be the main reason why it did the record in the first place.

Yea the most capable evo 9 is the JUN Auto one but they are building it up in stages. I think it is almost finished now tho so should be a good contender.
