cliff notes...

2003 S2000 with 50,000 miles.

Running down the fwy the other day and <bam> the oil light came on and I came to a dead stop. Towed the car to my shop and they're telling me I threw a rod through the block due to low oil or a misshift down? I don't believe I even shifted, let alone misshifted.

Any thoughts? Thanks for your time.

David

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the oil for the same reasons, the temperature wasn't hot and the oil light hadn't come on. I'm confident that I was rpming around 7500 or so, at 70mph in 3rd.

well how long were in 3rd gear at 7,500? i really hope you werent cruising at those rpms...

No more than 10 minutes. I'm surprised to hear you say that. I've always been told that the car runs best between 6500 and 7500.

i hope that guy ends up a darwin award candidate.

ahahahaha, thats almost as bad as the guy that put gearbox oil in his rex, or the dude that wleded extra fins to his mazda turbo!

these people are obvious examples that natural selection is getting to slack~!

with the amount of these idiots popping up we should start an "idiots" area of the forum...
