Hey boys and girls,

I've been working on improving my shifter feel.

So far I have had a custom halo made up with adjustable stops on 1st / 2nd / 3rd / 4th gears.
I am also using 3000GT shifter modified to suit the vr4 with polyurethane bushings etc.
The next thing I want to do is upgrade the little springs (3) in the gearbox which hold the ball bearings in place. I would like a more positive feel when shifting.

Anybody know where I can get these from?
Anybody try and shim them up?

I'll try and find some locally but anybody who has tried anything similar, input would be appreciated!

Here are pictures of the mods I have done. Thank you BJP for the fantastic fabrication work!! He truly has the ability to make your designs become a reality!

have you replaced all of the plastic bushes in the shifter baz? best thing i did hands down

solid brass/alloy shifter bushes in the gearbox end of the cable.

yeah up closer to the wheel is good,im even thinking of going higher to be right up next to the wheel

How much of a bend can you put in the shifter cables? I would've thought the higher you went the more of a bend you'd put in the cables and the shift could possibly be impacted.

Im guessing you've removed the lower portion of the dash, because keeping the ashtray etc etc, you can only raise it 40-50mm.

Ok, everything has been adjusted and with the halo, the box feels heaps better!!

Today I'll play around with getting some shims for the springs to get it a bit tighter in gear. It is hard to get the feel of neutral with these straight cut gears.
