Just had to replace a oil pump seal and just wanting to get confirmation this is lined correct on the crank in my mind I think it should be a bit lower just thought I'd check with you guys. To put my mind at rest

yes that looks correct
you will also need to check the balance shaft markings too.
as well as the top cam marks,
LOOKING AT YOUR CAMS THEY DO LOOK NOT IN THE RIGHT POSITION!
traditionally your cam timing marks are at the top and the locator marks are on the sides (which are the ones you line up!!)
normally with the cam cover off you can lay a straight edge across the head and extranding in between the cam gears which gives you a point to line up the marks.
putting a rule across the front of the gears and lining the marks doesn't work I think. (mine is very different as I have lots of different machining and height changes, so i'm not 100%)

but you need to double and triple check the timing before you rotate that crank!
another way to confirm TDC is put a screwdrive (long) down pot 1 to check piston height!

BUT FIRST CHECK THOSE CAMS DUDE!

Having a closer look at that pic

*** THEY ARE WRONG ***
you are 90deg advanced on those cams!!!!!

where are the dowel pins on the cams ??? on the right or bottom???

Yeh marks are in the right place for a newer evo when I got them I just checked them against the standard cam gears so I could mark a centre line amd use a straight edge for fitting

Your sweet then. yeah the double holed evo 4-8 cam gears make it a bit confusing on early 4g63's Iv got late gears and cam's that make it 100 times more confusing lol.

Cheers fellas knew I was right but since that crank mark isn't exactly an arrow thought it be good to check with you guys

I used aftermarket evo 6 cams on my vr4 motor. Each cam was out 1 tooth, or about 20 deg I think it was. Just put a bolt tightly locking a stick and aftermarket gears together and re marked the aftermarket to match the stock and all good

The dowels are at different angles on the EVO4+ gears.
The marks are also different.

As stated above.
Ensure you use a straight edge across the LHS mark of the cam gear, centre bolt and LHS mark of the 2nd cam gear.
The RHS mark of the cam gears are not @ 90 degrees from the top mark.

Another way is to count the teeth/valleys on the timing belt.
I recall 39/41 or something like that.
