In any section of your car, you'll maintain the best consistency and best grades with judges if you pick ONE theme colour (IE: whatever) and two accessory colours along with chrome/stainless. Unless you upgrade chrome/stainless to an accessory colour.

Most people choose their colour, red OR blue and stainless. This runs through the engine bay and interior and boot.

If you are going to gold tank your piepwork/cooler/etc, you might want to gold tank your braided lines or think about it.

You won't be able to gold chrome the factory washer bottles, you'll have to have them replaced with some stainless item that gets welded up for the purpose and chrome them. Plastic doesn't allow chroming to adhere.

If you are going to goto the point of having your dash removed and revinyled, send it to the guys in sydney from consoles.com and give them the dimensions for anything you want in it. They'll custom build you mounts out of wood/fibreglass and vinyl over the lot professionally, and you won't lose your vents (an RWC item).

True you cannot chrome these but there is a method of spraypaintng plastics to get the chrome effect. Not sure what its called though but it is common.
Go for it bro

Please don't turn a genuine Evolution into a rolling bucket of steaming rice!
I know its your car etc... But do it too a GSR if you have too.

I realise it'll be quick, but it still will look horrendous.

Im all for it, if you want to do a show car up, what better than making it an evo. If i had the money i would do an evo but i am just going to use a gsr and at the end of the day its what u like and making it different to every other car on the road. Good luck with the project, cant wait to see photos

Um....it already is an Evo. :?

Hey man, sounds like you have a hell of a lot of work in store. Hope it all works out with it though. Just a few thoughts of mine below.

Motor:
Exedy Heavy Duty single plate Clutch 40% xtra Clamp - ?? Seriously wont hold the engine you want to build. Get something custom, Jim Berry is the man you should talk to about this.
Haltech E8 - Autronic plug and play is a much better option(my opinion)
100mm FMIC (end tanks gold chromed) - (You will have to cut a bit out of the genuine bar to fit a cooler this thick in there, being genuine evo, this may be a concern to you, as it would be for me)
Clear cam gear cover - Are these actually available? If so, hook me up
82mm throttle body - Why? It will kill throttle response. 60-65mm is enough for 400kw@wheels.
Custom Gold Chrome Inlet Manifold - Anything like this gold plated, or chromed will induce a large amount of heat soak and heat retention. Not exactly going to help in producing good power. Having it polished would be a far better option, and is required before its chomed anyway.

As for some of the interior and external ideas/colour theme. Alot of people are either going to hate it or luv it. It is a genuine evo, so try and keep it clean. Ricing it up will wreck it in my opinion.

Genuine Evo 1 showcar

ok i understand everyone concern.

my points....

How many Genuine Evo 1 Showcars are out there..?

Runuts.
# The clutch is rated pretty high and if driven properly will do the job.
# NCK know alot about the HALTECH E8 and they know the tuning.
# If room has to made for the FMIC, it has to be made..
# The coating of the inlet manifold, if its coated it then the heat cant get in to it. The running temp of the 4g engine is high anyway..

Brushed, Im with you on that, if there is going to be a Lancer Showcar, why not make it the best, an EVO

the exedy sports organic clutch didn't even hold my 150kw vr4!
no way the heavy duty will hold that power mate..
maybe only the the parking lot

it. The running temp of the 4g engine is high anyway..

another option is to get em ceramic coated..

I think you are missing the point regarding the coating. On an exhaust manifold, great, you want to contain the heat produced. But on the inlet side, you want the manifold to be able to transfer heat, not hold it. For if it sustains the underbonnet heat, it then passes this to the intake charge.

Ok I just interpreted what you just said as:

Coated inlet manifold wont transfer heat, however if it gets hot under the bonnet it will transfer the heat??

Doesn't make sense to me.

Sorry, didnt really make what i said clear.

Ok, if you have the inlet manifold gold/chrome coated, it will decrease its ability to dissipate heat. So the effect of this is that pretty much the more heat it gets, the hotter it will become and the longer it will take for it to cool down. This heat will then be passed on to the intake charge air, and increase its temperature as well.

Now if it was to stay straight alloy or polished, it will have a higher level of heat transfer, increased ability to dissipate heat. While it may reach the same temperatures as the chromed/coated intake, it will also decrease in temperature alot faster, and have a much better effect on the intake tempe as well.

Basically, think of it this way.
Your car sits idling away, under bonnet temps increase drematically at this time as there is little cold air available. The chromed intake builds up heat with the rest of the engine bay components, as does the straight alloy one.

Now you start driving, alot of cool air is being blown through the engine compartment. The alloy intake drops in temperature quite quickly, where as the chromed one will take a hell of alot longer to drop in temperature.

Thanks for ur consern, but the effectiveness between the Gold Chromed and the polished alloy will be made up else where..

i understand where you coming from and i thank you for pointing it out, cheers, i guess that one of the Sacrifices you have to make between Show and go..

sure.......NOT

Yeah mate cause you can, at the moment Danes car is faster than mine, but thats only because my motor is apart...

Mate you can have a drive, all you have to do is let me know when your back in the Ville....

hehe nah i would love to sit in the passenger seat - driving it wouldnt seem fair!

I have *some* time off this xmas so im thinking about cruising up to say hi to everyone. Jenna will be working so I might as well get out and about!

Good to see your home safe btw - havent msged ya in ages
