looking for a tool to make this job easier,

I think i'll end up going with this one, does anyone know if these are available locally or if there is something better out there..,

Sweet i just ordered one you can do it with the head on you just have to no what your doing so the valves don't fall in

I bought the one the OP listed.

It's brilliant, makes life so much easier for replacing valve springs/retainers/seals with the head on.

Prior to that i had one like this:

while it did the job, it's no where near as esy as the euroexport one.

thanks mat, did you find that the main pin (the screw that depressed the valve spring) started to wear out against the top of the fitting that goes ontop of the spring?

i seen the youtube vid of it in action, and it really looks like an easy to use, useful bit of kit....

the euro export one is very easy to use. Just run air into the cylinder or use rope so the valves dont fall in.

i've used it 4 times now (different motors) and it shows no sign of wear.

It really is an easy tool to use! With the other one i found i had to get someone to comress the spring, while i removed/installed the collets (and with stiff springs was a PITA for them!). But the euroexport one is a one man job and requires SFA effort.

BTW. I use the pressurised air method, fo keeping the valves in place.

my compressor leaks, i'll use rope on a cold engine.. hehehe.. i should get a new one..
