Hey guys just wondering what valve springs I should get for a 4g93t cos I want to run more boost, what's the best

The ones in the shape of forged rods and pistons :p
You should list your other mods so we can see if you're barking up the wrong tree. There are other things you probably should be spending the $$ on first ;)

The engine already has forged rods and pistons, it only got built a couple of months ago but didn't change the valve springs

Firstly, what makes you think you need to upgrade the valve springs?
Secondly, use the valve springs which suit the cams you are running.
ie. stock cams = stock valve springs.
high lift cams = valve springs to suit (preferably as supplied by the cam manufacturer).

The guy that's building the engine said that I should be running a better valve spring to handle the boost because of the pressure that will be put on them due to more boost. Obveiously no one has changed them so will have to source info elsewhere, thanks guys

That doesn't make a lot of sense to be honest. Boost helps seal the valves to the head which is also what the valve springs do.
The only reason you change valve springs is if you are running high rpm (very often) or have different cams which have greater lift and require different seat pressure or the stock springs will coil bind under the extra lift.
Is your engine builder experienced with Mitsi stuff, or is he just used to Ford and Holden stuff (where valve spring upgrades are very common due to the stick soft springs that they use that will cause valve float at high rpm)?

What cams you are running?

It's running standard cams. So what your saying is that I can get away with running standard springs

What brushed is saying can apply depending on the standard spring seat pressure, it is certainly a good idea to upgrade the springs even with stock cams if your going big boost.
They way to check is get your original spring seat pressure checked first, if its high you dont need them,
but I take it your engine guy has checked them or he wouldnt have mentioned it.

brian crowers are cheap and chearful and run a good seat pressure, thats what I would go for if you can.

edit : not sure if you can get them for 4g93???

Standard GSR cams are crap and wont handle really high power, we removed a pair out of our mates EX GSR powered coupe and the intake cam was bent like a banana

I made 367kw before i needed to update the springs due to valve float.
Standard springs should be fine, unless your hitting or aiming for 350kw+

I have Kelford 212-B billets and stock valvesprings. As already mentioned, they're only required with 'big' cams. Namely stuff you can't even get off the shelf for the 93T. Sounds like "the guy putting your engine together" doesn't really know what he's doing and/or is trying to sell you stuff you don't need.

im pretty sure 63t valve springs fit in a 93 can anyone else back me up here.

Wrong.

Thanks for your help guys, it's good to hear I can still run the standard ones cos need the car back on the road. Thanks again

Thread revive

Originally I was using Tomei 260/260 in my 4G63T engine, recently I have changed to HKS 272/272

Only problem is I have no idea what the ones currently in my head are, OEM or aftermarket

I don't think they are stock, when I got the engine it had Tomei Cams, Tomei Cams gears, Tomei Timing belt/balance belt, EVO7+ rockers, 3G lifters, Stainless valves... I don't see a point it they upgrade them parts but not the springs

They worked fine with the 260/260 Tomei Combo, which has 10.7 lift, while the HKS 272/272 has 10.8

Do they look like an stock item or an aftermarket??

Does anyone know what they could be??

They have pink paint on the tops

Do you really think 0.1 more lift will really make any difference what so ever?? The way I see it if they could handle 10.7 - 10.8 is fuck all more  ?

Exactly what Jamo said. I doubt anybody runs within 0.1mm from the piston tops lol.
Besides, I told you before little bro, they look like Performance Springs (QLD company) when comparing them to photos I have here :p
