Hey guys, has anyone here used Performance Springs valave springs in their cars? Is the quality of the springs and retainers good enought to run in our cars?? What about the price?

I can smell something cooking 8)

yo dre,

buzz engines used performance valve springs in his motor
he ran low 11's i think?!?! with the scm-61

the stock retainers are fine
i believe some workshops think there isn't a need for upgrading these items, some even believe the valves are fine untouched..

but anyway, for your setup, just grab the springs and run them with your stock retainers mate.. you'll be revving to 8 k in no time =)

remove your balance shafts while your working on the motor also dude
and change your headgasket to a mitsu MLS or cometic.. (since the head will be off)

Are upgraded valve springs all that i'd need to be able to move the redline up 1000rpm? I thought there'd be more too it?

An extra 1000rpm would be good though, theis turbo make good power up high, the only thing holding it back is the 7k redline :(

Are you sure the stock retainers are up to the task????

ask darrne how much extra to do the headgasket and arp fasteners also mate..

would be worth it while your in there!

peace of mind, u could lower the compression even more and run 30psi!!!
on pump fuel..

but ur low down grunt will be a little weak!

or u could go the other way, increase compression, get more power throughout the rev range

yep thats all you need mate,
ask jstyle

he just shimmed his stock springs using stock valves / retainers
he was revving to 8.5k

the problem with high revs is shifting into gear and also valve float (which is caused by springs without enough pressure to push them back down) thats my understanding of it anyway, but from what i've been told my many gvr4 guys, they rev the stock valve train system up to 8k without a hiccup,

i personally wouldn't do it every single day, but it will be fine for racing etc..
