hey guys i have sold my gsr... but the persont hat just bought it, messaged me asking for the cars vin number n chassis number... if someone has this info what could they find out?

like i am not trying to hid anything, but i dont get why they need it...

I think it may just be to do a REVS check ...

A friend of mine who use to work in the RTA (Vic Roads) use to look up vin numbers for friends when they were buying a car.. It would then list the whole history of how many people owned the vehicle, how many accidents it had been in, and a whole lot of stuff...

this i should give it to them... like the one thing i would be cut about it... 1. they have bought the car, n given me a deposite... 2. i have stripped the car, n everything on it... 3. i have used up all my times, n spent more money on it, getting it detailed n cleaned...

i dont even know the history of the car, i would rather not know...

think i should give it?

Well I think that it may be a slim chance they are getting a friend to look up the records... and would say it would be more of a revs check thing....

id feel obligated too give the details, otherwise id think they would think i was hiding something......................

yeah true true... i'll just give it... theirs nothing wrong that i know of... EG smash repair... car is fully owned... so thats all good... only little prob would be the kms i would imagine

You need those numbers to do a Vehicle Security Register Check (VSR) It is a common thing and it is recomended when buying any used car privately, you ring VicRoads with the Numbers and they check; if the Vehicle has any finance owing on it, if it is currently listed as stolen and you can also ask if the car has been a repairable writeoff that has been fixed and put back on the road.

Also it's a VI Number or a VIN, Not a Vehicle Identification Number Number

aren't those numbers on the compliance plate of all vehicles, he shouldn't need to ask for it, if not there then it is stamped on the firewall on all mitsubishis

no vin number is on the passager side strut area.... the car chassi number is on the fire wall...

i never messaged the guy back, so i left it, if he wants it that bad he can call me...

vin/chassi is the same thing and stamped on the firewall, if you have a number stamped on your strut tower that will be a compliance number or rebuild number.
