For those who don't know I have a 89' GSR Galant (manual).

I believe it has a Hyundai Sonata engine in it (I think it's still a 4g63 though).

I'd like to know if you can put a Vr-4 4g63 in it (like this for example)

I only ask because I am a newbie and I know the Vr-4 is an AWD where as the GSR is a front wheel drive.

Thanks.

yes it will bolt on straight.. but that link is a rip off, i remember a member here posted a FORGED engine from an RVR here for sale for $3000.. look in the parts for sale section. might still be there..

I presume your Gsr is not turbo?
You could boost the sonata motor to about 6psi as it is.
But to convert from na to turbo is a fairly big job for a newbie.
Especially if between 2 different cars. And If you are chasing a factory looking job. It's not as simple as bolting a turbo engine in. Shit like your flywheel is different, different ecu and looms,
Is easier if you have 2 bodies the same side by side to transfer parts between.

But if you are really keen, there is a lot of good knowledge on here and search is your friend.

With the effort and cash spent to do this conversion, even though its easy id sell you car and put the money you'd spend on the conversion towards upgrading to a vr4, you'll have awd which is what makes the whole car and the hard work is done and you can concentrate on mods taking it further.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to follow up on iy for now, I was just doing some reseach in to it for now.

I'd love a vr-4 but it's almost impossible to find a decent one in Tassie haha

And no my GSR isn't turbo'd :(

My dad is a certified mechanic and vehicle inspector so we both agreed to just recondition the engine for now :) (I still cringe when I see the Hyundai spark plug cover unfortunatly)
