VR4 4G63 rods

dose anyone know how much power VR4 4G63 pistion rods can take, coz im building a motor an i dont wanna have to buy stronger rods if i dont need to

mine held 225kw no problems...

get some SCAT or EAGLE rods..

SCAT ones are like $500 i think.

VR4 rods are thick cast and said to handle around 450-500hp (engine)... some people get more out of them so they run the risk of them failing obviously. Factory VR4 rods are stronger than factory EVO rods. If you get the VR4 rods cryogenically treated they will be stronger and safer than just pure stock rods. But as mentioned before, aftermarket forged rods like Eagle H-Beams are cheap enough these days and are proven to handle 900hp (Rob Barac even had Eagles in his EVO at one stage) so it takes most of the worry out of your rods letting go :wink: Blurple (NZ VR4) was pulling 250kw atw+ with stock VR4 rods and I have heard about 300kw atw applications still using them as well 8)

I have a set of Eagles for sale cheap........

the price to prep stock rods clearly exceeds the price of eagles..

once u include
- arp rod bolts
- shot peening

go with the eagles mate!
but if u decide to stick with vr4's for some reason, i've heard they are good for 500hp

was alot cheaper for me with arp rods and shotpeening
