I want to pull the 4WS out of my galant due to the power it has now and at high speeds the arse end feels like it just wants to skip out not good when u give it a boot full in to a tight corner hay. I think the car would handle better with it out and always wanted to do it.
any suggstions, can u by a kit to replace the arms or whats the best way about it thanks

have to find that deletion kit! :) i'm looking to do it too..

anyone got a link?? i think u hav to get it from the states? :(

Why dont you guys want 4WS?
It's an awesome novalty from the 80's. All the cool cars had it

GTR
GTS
180's
GTO's etc etc

Anyway, this is mine.

you only need to block off the 2 hi pressure hoses and loop the return line at the resevoir back in. afaik anyway

i have a pre facelift J spec with 4WS & a facelift RS without 4WS - i can't tell the differece between them

removed my steering rack and lines and everything! just got the arm sitting with nothin holding it... seems to be pretty rigid by itself! :)

drives with no noticeable difference, though I haven't had it over 100 kay's yet... lol

also i've drained all fluid out of the p.s. system as the right rack seal just shit itself and its a 700 dollar job to reco it... :( thats with me taking the rack by itself to the people!! :O damn rip off darwin places!!! :(

Bloody hell thats expensive!!!
I've got my old Aspec rack sitting here doing nothing. It had a small leak where one of the lines attached but that turned out to just be an oring.
The rack itself is pretty easy to pull apart and fix yourself if you need to.

Sorry, I meant to say to Kayarubin that I have a complete front rack sitting here doing nothing as I have converted mine to manual steering now.
I removed my 4ws years ago and haven't had a single problem with the rear end since.
The RS VR4's without 4WS have the same suspension style setup in the rear as the ones with 4WS. The only real difference is the lack of the rack etc.
In the USA they call it 'passive rear steer'

I had similar issues, i hated the 4WS, maybe the height of my car didnt help...

In the end i simply disconnected the rear tie rod ends, it fixed it, the pump still ran etc, i got told i may burn it out, it never did though..
It was the best thing i did for my car...after the ensuing shitfight that occured on the forum here when i posted asking about it..lol...ah the old days, and the 4WS purists..hahah....Entaran where are you!!! :w00t:

hey brisvr4!
jayrome's rack leaks fluid also.. lol. so any time your willing to sell, i'm up for it!
