Does anyone know if the vr4 88 jspec gear cable is the same as the aspec or gsr galant , mine snapped this arvo on the way to work, now it's stuck on first gear but managed to drive it home. If anyone has a spare one around adelaide please let me know asap. cheers

dont know for sure but i dont see why it would be any different to a GGSR
gearbox is in the same position, shifter cables go to the same spot...

I believe the 88 jspecs have the older style shifter which means different cables (unless you can adjust them to suit).

they shouldnt be that different, they both take the same route to the gear box and the box sits in the same position on a VR4 and GGSR....

unless, you have the really really early gear boxes and the shifters are backwards..... (but i have only noticed magnas to do that..)

they are different i'm pretty sure

I agree.
Seeing the title I was about to ask what happened to it to make you wanna replace them, because I've always wondered how people go through them??
Snapped aye...nasty..

It just happened while i was driving to work, first i noticed the gear changes are getting harder to go in gear then all of a sudden the gear stick just became loose lucky enough that i was on gear (1st) so got it home some how. Nasty.....Hopefully i find one tomorrow, I'll probably pull it out them compare with ggsr ones as there aren't to many vr4 wreckers in adelaide and would probably cost an arm and a leg from import wreckers.

Mico, Adelaide Cable Company at Regency Pk can "recable" it, and it will likely to work out the cheapest and quickest option.
