vr4 engine rebuild

hey guys,

Just got my car back after getting rid of a major defect and engine has now died... apparently a chipped piston.

Just wanna get a feel for price ranges in peoples experiences?

How did they diagnose that? Anyway the only way to change it is to take the engine out of the car. When you go to that extent engine builders would want to use new bearings all round, rings, belts, headgasket, waterpump, get the cylinder head checked etc. In this case its gonna be a full reco with these new components or they probably wont offer you a warranty. Time to think about what you want out of the car and perhaps add some extra $$ for a set of forgies :wink: Price range?? well.... anything from at the least $2500 upwards.

yeh, i was quoted over $3k for forgies rebuild, i think i might drop aa whole new engine in, just simpler.

Nope.. .go the forgies rebuild for $3000.. it'll be a rebuilt engine then and more fun and last longer. Buying 2nd hand used you dont know what you're getting :roll:
