Guys, check out the Youtube footage of Tristan Catfords excellent 4th outright from 140 competitors at the recent Mt Gambier "Legends of the Lake" hillclimb. Great driving in the VR4 to take it up to the serious competittors at the pointy end !

Ross, yes, it is an Albins dogbox. For this event, Tristan was advised to use the clutch. We do have a NLTS function with the ECM tuning chip , but I wanted him to get used to the gearbox . We do have a Holinger strain gauge gear knob ( pricey !), and it will take a bit of careful tuning to set the NLTS . Ross, this is a VERY quick VR4, and Tristan is a very good steerer. I built a stroker E85 fuelled engine for it, and it is equipped with front /rear Kaaz LSDs. The diffs are standard taller ratios, as this thing has so much torque, it is an effort to keep the wheelspin down. While the ECM program has a launch control, it is very easy to over power it. Definitely, half throttle on the launch, or it limiter bashes itself into slow times !

Ross, it has one of my stronger VCUs out of my stock, and the hydraulic handbrake has a looooong handle !! Remember, you only have to momentarily lock the rear wheels while turning, get it sliding and finish it off with some careful throttle action on exit. Because the VCU is so grippy in this car, it really feels like a big old school Datsun steering it on the back wheels with throttle !

I understand completely, I run a gravel VR4 with a Quaife geared front LSD and a viscous centre and rear diff.
I had an hydraulic in my old, now crashed VR4, and have not yet fitted the newer car with an hydraulic hand brake yet.
The cable brake is very weak and the turns have to be right on the button. LOL
I appreciate the touch required for a handbrake turn, Tristan's was a cracker.
Regards
Ross

Thanks for uploading that Mike :)
Love it!

Is there somewhere I can read up on the specs/build of this car? (Just out of interests sake)
It performs like no other VR4 I've ever seen. Keep up the great work, both of you!

Hey Mo, if you want details just PM with a few questions... Tristan doesn't have a build page. Essentially its nothing over the top, economically and very simple to put together and extremely well driven by an exceptional driver !
