Should be mech, viscous generally have it on the id tag I believe.

can you confirm by rotating the shafts...

if u spin one side, does the other side spin the same way??

otherwise, pull out the shafts and let us know what it looks like through the diff...

this diff came out of an RS so u can be pretty sure its mechanical :wink:

Also:

Best way to tell would be to check the driverside driveshaft, if its viscous the spline that goes into the diff will be stepped.

If it is Mechanical, its SOLD So do the above checks please

Does it have the rear steering pump spot on the diff ? Didn't the early RS's have 4WS ?

That car did not have 4ws.

Predatorvr4, for *****, sake, pull the shafts out and have a look.

Did WRCVR4 end up buying the Diff?

Did you pull out the shafts to see if it was Mechanical or Viscous?

I'll offer $80 for the diff and driveshafts (sight unseen).
I'll take the ecu off you for nothing (as its a non chippable, non logable J-spec dual board ecu worth nothing)
And I'll give you $20 for the transfer case (which is more than I payed for the last one) as it will be a 22 spline one to suit early J specs (which I have 3 of already).

And I'll come and pick it all up this weekend and give you cash.
