Hey all,

Ive seen alot of this around mainly in the US, rarely have i seen it used and or mentioned here.

Ive got a VR4 Ecu socketed and had Meeks tune it, but no stutter box.

As much info as possible would be great, the coding, parameters and how far you can do adjusting wether it be set to a 2000rpm or as high as 7000rpm (its an example im not stupid enough to do that on a FWD)

Also i know they can/are turned OFF by road speed (is that correct?) and if so what range can it be set to (5kph, 10kph, 20kph??)

I have done a search on here, if its already covered indepth please point me to it as it would be greatly appeciated.

Cheers
Marc.

Forgive me as I've never heard of the term "stutterbox" but it sounds like a zero momentem launch control?

If so as far as I've seen it's set to a limit say 5500rpm when wheel speed = 0 and you floor it.

Or your talking about something I'm yet to learn ;)

Cheers

spot on mate, i think brisvr4 has this setup on his car

I'm not sure if Razza is on here but if you visit www.mmc.org.nz and PM user Razza he writes alot of chips for people over here in NZ and on these forums.

He should know :)

In my opinion you're wasting your time for a FWD car- you're only going to get tons of wheelspin! I had it setup at 5k rpm on my old FWD galant and never used it, because it was basically useless- just sounded cool....

:D .

Well i dont plan to use it until its got the LSD and Drag radials, which shouldnt be too long now anyway.

Its not so much for epic power launches, more for consistant launches. Get into stage, bury the right foot and not have to worry about trying to get the revs right, and i can just concentrate on the christmas tree.

If i can get the car as consistant as possible ive got more of a chance at winning as the class ill be in is a DYO (Dial Your Own) Handicapped bracket.

When i had a chip written by razza i asked him about the limit and he said 5.5K worked the best as any lower and it wouldnt build boost. Higher and its more violant on you driveline and you loose tractions more. I havent installed it yet so i cant comment on how razza's works.

Someone who had stutterbox said to me they'd get around 10-12psi. It builds apprently with each pulse, 3psi, 6, 9, 12, 12, 12 ect.

However i recently looked at someones car that was chipped with stutterbox and only got about 1psi and didnt sound nearly as violant as others. Dunno who wrote his chip though.

Theres a few differnt versions floating around, i know keydriver chips have the latest one (or at least a more recent revised version on than some other chips).

If its in a front wheel drive you wouldnt want to build boost anyway.
so i guess all that would matter would be the rpm limit and you'd have to experiment with that. and keep rewriting the chip.

Yeah or find the most optimum rev that your wheels grip at first, then get it re-written onto your chip

Here's this vid again- for a FWD with launch control it gets out of the hole pretty damn quick (1.860ft's), not to mention a 10.9 on a STOCK 4G61T with cams :D

just watched that video. wow pretty dam good for a fwd, its got drag slicks yeah?
A few guys with new evo's cant even get 1.8 60ft's. must be scared:p

I've got a selectable stutterbox in mine. I can change it by tapping the throttle pedal while I have the key turned to the On position. I don't think Razza has worked out how to do this yet though.
Mine is selectable in steps of 250rpm from 4250 - 5750 I think. I usually just set it to 5750 and let rip :)
Mine is a Keydiver chip. Have a look at http://www.dsmchips.com
If Jeff has your actual injector flow rates he can dial it in very close to what you would need.

Yeah ive seen them brisvr4, but i was hoping someone on here would know on the programming side, as im lining up some dyno time and the guy who is doing it hasnt touched on that subject before. I just dont want to have to send a away my EPROM or wait for one to arrive, its hard enough trying to get all the planets to align to make it go ahead as is.

Cheers.

*Eagerly watches thread* :p

I'm interested in what people have to say on this topic as well. I just copied my first EPROM last night and it worked! Now I wanna know how to do other stuff! :D

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/dsm-ecu/

I've been shown that ^^^ site.
Perhaps it's of use to you Marc, I have no idea how to use it, just looks like a forum to me. Tbh, I have no idea what they are talking about.
I did pass microcontrollers/memory devices but I have no idea how! :p

Meek has the stutter box coding and has put it in quite a few cars maybe just ask him to throw it on yours?

mohammed, why don't you ask dave to borrow that old chip of mine and see what you can learn from that, it has the selectable stutter box on it
