Hi again guys

I had to buy a replacement head for the evo3, and decided (read: cheap) to pick up a VR4 one.

Anyway, have now noticed that the thermostat housing is different from the E3 to the VR4 head.

I've been reading some of the tech articles, however, most have been overseas ones, and not quite sure what I should look for locally.

Apparently I can keep the E3 main water water line (from the water pump to thermo).

What I don't get is what thermostat housing SETUP to use. Obviously one from a VR4 (due to the different housing) - but what model do I look from locally? I still want to use the main E3 water line.

Can I also get one from a more readily available model, like a Magna etc?

Once again, thanks heaps - and hope that makes sense!

Pretty sure you can't keep the evo water pipe- you'll need a vr4 water pipe from the pump too as the evo housing has the water pipe return to it and the vr4 pipe goes to the radiator (bottom hose), the 6 bolt thermo housing has no provision for the evo water pipe. The n/a 6 bolt thermo housing (more readily available) will fit but you'll need to modify to fit a bung for the turbo water line. I've got evo 6 bolt and 7 bolt thermos/water pipes here in Brissy if you're here sometime and want to have a look.....
You'll need a 6 bolt inlet manifold also as mentioned- would be simpler to do a 7 bolt head in my opinion- What's wrong witht he current head? RVR 7 bolt will fit same as evo btw

The VR4 one came up at the right price, reconditioned. It was getting too hard to find an evo one for the right price, let alone at all!

I'll PM you, doo doo (!)

Intake mani (due to port sizing) and thermostat housing (different).....they are the "issues" at the moment

Your head studs to screw into the evo block deck will be 1mm narrower than the holes in the GVR4 head too.
Gvr4 head studs = 12mm
Evo head studs = 11mm

^ but the locating dowels are the same size aren't they? I'll bet some of the stud nuts and washers will have trouble clearing the spring bases when installing too.

Ya still might on a couple, but gentle tap with a plug socket and its all good,
Ratbag, ya must of just missed out on the last few heads that come up, I remember Douhmo had 1 for $300 iirc, I was too slow as well, lol
There a guy on ebay with a maroon rvr getting parted out, dunno how far from you he is but he posts stuff, and it might save ya a bunch of unforeseen problems, hes pretty cheap too,
