This is very simple to answer i would imagine. Whats the diffrence between a Vr4 head and a Galant N/A head.

Obviously the vr4 is turbo model, and the galant gsr is a 2.0 n/a. and both are twincam.

The most important spec that iwould need to know is if the valves, cams and combustion chambers are the same.

Could i fit a galant head with all galant cams on a vr4 bottom end block for turbo applications.

What about fitting the head and putting vr4 cams inside, could that work, are the cam journals the same.

Cams ( diffrent
Valves ( ?????)
Combustion chamber ( ??????)

informed suggestions and feedback is rewarding.

valves are the same, the only difference is the cam duration, so yes you can put vr4 cams into a gsr head and it will work like a bought one. everything is identical appart from the cam duration

im not sure if this is a case of gsr vs vr4 head..
but i was planning to build up a galant gsr head, and had it hardness tested.

for some reason the head was extremely soft.

it was around 60 brinel whereas the vr4 head was around the 80 - 90 brinel mark.....

apart from that, cams and springs differ

Bazeng, would you have a idea of what the Gsr head could handle. Like if it was used for turbo applications could the pressures and heat of boost destroy the head very quickly. Would it crack or break or whatever very quickly.

Could it be just a short use type of head for turbo use, like tempoary use only and not long term.

Maybe when they manufactured the heads they just process the turbo heads better i reckon.
