Hey guys
There's been an increasing amount of batteries heating and swelling up in the Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phones since their introduction into the Aussie market back around May 2013.
Now that its been in market for a few months, alarming numbers are being returned back to mobile phone shops with customers pissed off that they have to return the mobile phone and the battery in for inspection under warranty.
It just happened to my wife's S4 and the guys at the phone shop today confirmed that it is a known problem. Searching the internet there are many more cases coming to light during the last few weeks.
It hasn't been conveyed whether its a battery defect or whether the phone is overcharging the battery, however, I believe Samsung should be proactive and broadcast an immediate safety alert to the general public. They haven't done so yet probably because they still have thousands of these things in boxes in stores and nobody will buy one if they recall them.
In the meantime if you own an S4 or know somebody who does, check the condition of the battery to ensure that it isn't experiencing excessive heat and has swollen up because other than very poor battery life, in extreme cases the swollen batteries may leak or even explode.
