Today was putting my car together and cleaning it up ready for Calder Park tonight! I was heading to the tyre/exhaust joint to get some tyres sorted.. so i drove on the eastern out onto hoddle then i went thru Northcote area to try and get onto St Georges rd.

However a dimmy van had flash his sirens and come up behind me a pulled me over. He told me i was going to get an EPA notice in the letter and also wanted me to bring my car down for inspection at the station tonight. I got no fine/infringements.

However when they were about to leave i tried to start my car up and it went dead. The battery had died or something. Anyways pushed the car onto a street then rolled it and got it going again. So off i was again to head to the tyre shop to get some new tyres for tonight.

So anyway im in Resevoir type are and at a set of traffic lights my cars engine bay exploded and there was smoke everywhere!! I quickly popped my bonnet and rain outside to inspect but luckily for me it was only coolant.. I was dumbfounded to how my car exploded all that coolant.. so i was holding up traffic.. i decided to call a tow truck company about getting my car towed to AFAS. I called up Nationwide and they wanted $197 to tow me from Resevoir to Wantirna!

I thought.. it was a load of bull so i started the car when the lights went green and drove t the other side of the road where i wasnt holding up traffic.. i find a bucket in someones front lawn and start filling it up with water so i can fill my radiator.. so while im doing that its filling.. and it takes about 10litres.. im thinking.. hanging the waters leaking somewhere but i could find it..

So i have enough water in my motor to drive it somewhere.. i drove it around the block about 1km to a petrol station where i parked the car and started to take to it with my tools. Firsly i took out the radiator and i couldnt see any problems.. tho i didnt really thoroughly inspect it.. but when i did i found a big crack about 10cm in lenght on the bottom tank..

Was really disappointed at this stage.. but i thought i might aswell try and fix it.. Went into the servo and low and behold they have loctite super glue.. so i buy a pack for $3.10 and use it all on the radiator.. after super glueing it together i get some race tape (i have plenty in and on my car!) and i start taking to it with tape.

Ten minutes later and its all done.. radiator bak in.. i fire it up and its fine.. doesnt leak and doesnt over heat.. talk about a band aid fix..!!! I was lucky to get out of that one..

So now im home and im deciding what to do.. and whether i should drop it off at the shop or not.. not to mention that police officer i have to see.. but i dont think he can issue me with a defect sticker without going over my car.. plus he wasnt a TMU..

So to cut a long story short.. that was my night.. which should of been good but was crap!

no god man bad luck

sounds strange but it is the best fix for radiator leaks better then bars leaks and stuff lke that its eggs

crack a egg in your radiator tank and then fill with water, the egg gets sucked to where the hole/crack is and it cooks onto the area its needed.

bl jon..
and yeah that price is a rip off..

i got my car tow from greenvale (10 mins from melb airport) to AFAS for $120..

doesnt racv give u 18k's one direction free or similar? the most iv ever paid for a tow is $45 & that was like a 40 min tow! other than that i usually use my racq roadside assist cover for towing...

the number of times my vr4's been thrown on the back of a tilt tray if i was payin 45 a pop, id have paid a life time supply of roadside assist!

i'm dropping my radiator off at a place nearby afas to have the top tank redone soon.. $140, i'm sure the bottom wouldn't be much different.
