What ECU being used on stroker engine

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Hey man, i'm not actually running one, but i'd say your best bet would be a microtech or a haltech (for a cheaper option).
Give techsport a call, they seem to know they're stuff and might assist you.

techsport used to use autronic but now prefer motec.

they should be able to help you though.

i will be running a wolf v500 on my stroker engine

lol, you mean Techsport now gets a better deal on MoTeC prices!

But seriously, its not the kind of ECU you have to choose, its the person- who knows the engine they're trying to tune, with their preferred ECU......

I agree with you there, I pointed this out in another thread a while ago, It's no use giving someone who is a gun at tuning Wolf systems there first Motec and expect them to have a perfect running engine even though the software is quite capable of doing it - with the right person programing it!

Well, I've currently got a standard EVO1 ECU in it, just running the engine in at the moment so I'm not giving it a hard time. The wastegate is wired open as the boost controller isn't set up either (need to weld the little prong onto the intercooler pipe that it plugs into).

I've got a MEEK chipped GSR ECU sitting there that I'm considering swapping the chip out of and into the EVO ECU. MEEK wrote it for the cams, injectors and airflow meter, but I'm not sure how to go about swapping it into the EVO ECU (Shadow - ????)

I just don't have the $$$$ to spend on an all out system at the moment, gotta get some panel beating and painting done first (and pay off some of the house!! ) before splashing out on a big aftermarket system - hence the chipped ECU to get the car running whilst I learn to drive it again!

Wouldnt a chipped ECU have issues running a modified displcement engine??

And also your head, has it been ported??

I'm with everyone else man, i think you might be in need of an aftermarket system. There are plenty of people that will install and tune a microtech for about $1600 for a cheap sort of option.

As for swapping the chips around, it will proably run, but how well is another story. You would definately want to check the mixtures out after it and probably wouldn't want to flog the car running a chipped ecu (unless its been dynoed).

As for swapping the chips, i believe your the guy thats been building the coupe with Andrew?

I can take a look when i'm down in Shepp next, hopefully next weekend.

Yeah that's me! I was building the Coupe with Andrew, it's at home now, I gave it a gentle run in drive from Shep to Melb on Saturday.

We checked the mixtures with a sniffer up the exhaust and it was a bit lean, but not enough to cause a great concern. I'm not going to flog it until I get it checked on a dyno (scheduled within the next fortnight) to see where it's sitting at the moment. In regards to the ECU, I'm probably going to look at a stand alone EMS but for the time being the $$$$ are a bit short!

I might give TechSport a call and see what they suggest too. It can't hurt. They might even be able to swap the MEEK chip into the EVO ECU. Who knows?

If it used a map sensor (like some toyota engines for eg) then yes, but as mitsi uses air flow meters, the ecu knows more air is going into the engine, and can compensate (within reason).

Liberoz,

PM replied to but admin not allowing it out. In summary: My car, my $$ and my choice what I do with them both.
