214/40/17

Speedometre reading with non-stock tire is 1.4% too slow. When your speedo reads 60mph, you actually travelling 60.8mph

214/45/17

Speedometre reading with non-stock tire is 5.0% too slow. When your speedo reads 60mph, you actually travelling 63.0mph

ive got 235/35/18 and thats way to ridged and its actully very very much smaller then the stock wheels
probly doesnt help but i wouldnt go under 40/45, the rubber band look may look cool but damn it sucks when u hit bumps and think you have smashed a rim or 2

so if the rolling diameter is smaller wouldn't that mean that the speedo would be going faster than the wheels??? :?

There's a huge difference in ride quality as well going from 17" 40 profile to 18" 35..... the 18's look awesome but damn they're hard

I had the same Question when I put 17" on my EVO III
The Stock Rim/Tyre size was 205/60 R15

Here is a link that will help you out

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html

The closest size is 215/45 R17 with that size only being (0.32%) 2mm smaller than the OEM size.
Hope that helps you out mate. :)

They are 215/40/R17 Toyo Proxes 4. I was testing their gravel abilities that day and am quite impressed with the grip. Wet roads seem pretty good too.

I am just needing some time to do some motorkhana work to test them out on the limit....or close to it

I would stick to 40 series tyres as that has the smallest effect on your speedo and that is what was recommended to me. You should try and stay within 3% or the rolling diameter of your existing tyres.

Interesting note, my old tyres still had plenty of grip, but the ABS would chatter all the time in the wet if you braked with any enthusiasm, but with the new tyres and rims this seems to have gone away and the brakes feel a lot more bitey.
