Hey guys,

I was in an accident yesterday. Truckie claimed he didn't see my car (because it doesn't stand out). Anyways the damage is pretty bad. Both rear qtr panels have been damaged, boot is gone and bumper has been pushed in. It seems to be a write off from the both quotes I've got.

I don't want to claim it as a write off because the agreed value on my car is only $8000.

Maybe keep it and strip it? Fix it? Kind of stuck at the moment :(

Could be the end of an era!! :(

Here's a pic, any panel beaters want to give an estimate on cost to fix it?

Keep trying mate.
Aww olly man, thats such a shame!
please dont give up. Its too nice of a car to give up on.
surely it can be fixed? if its only on the quarters, they're pretty easy access from the inner boot.
A good panel beater should be able to do it.
Persevere!

if you have a value of $8000 it shouldnt be a right off olly.

the only reason i could think of is becuse of the colour of your car.

just came back from another 2 panel shops (4 in total), they've said through insurance it will be a classed as a write off. :(

How bad is the damage inside the boot Olly? Are the chassis rails damaged/bent?

This would be the only reason I'd see them calling it a write-off, as new bootlids, bumpers, lights etc are piss-easy to come across if you know where to look. If the rails are damaged you'd be very hard-pressed to get a panel beater to accept responsibility for wanting to fixt it and put it back on the road.

If the rails are OK, it wouldn't be too hard to weld another EVO/GSR rear floor into the car and any decent panel beater should be able to beat the quarters back to shape.

Perhaps speak to Techsport and ask Jeff who he gets to weld in the floorpans of his converted Lancers and see if they'll quote you.

ohhh man my heart cries seeing this, especially with u ol such a bad string of luck.

Has the roof been kinked from the force of the hit? if it has most likley they will write the car off unless u buy the car back and get it done as if the cost of repairs is over half of what the car is worth i dont see them fixing it

yeah the roof has been kinked, not alot though, you can feel it with your hand though.. the seals have been pushed off as well..

going to give justcars a call now, will let you know how it all goes

an assessor is going to come past on friday. i'll most likely pay to keep the salvage and go from there

Get the insurance money then buy it back off the insurance mob and sell it in parts or buy another gsr and swap it all over.

yeh olly......just keep it and buy a shell and swap everything over mate......while its stripped send it over to me and ill paint the whole fukin thing for brother;)

sorry to see your car like that olly

but I would get the insurance money then go look for a evo with all the work done

yeah but he's poured a shitload into this car already- EVO conversion etc etc- it'd be a waste to just throw it all away

make sure you buy it back.. itll cost you about $1500 MAX to buy it back....!

then either strip it.. or buy a GSR and do the swap over.

Jon
