whats a good vacuum cleaner

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I've always had Electrolux vacs at home, three in fact, and they've all been real decent. We've currently got a Kerrick vac at work which is good. Does wet and dry, cleans cars fine, and even vacuum the shop floor with it. We had an Alto at work before that which was better though. Fucking awesome vac, best one I've used, old banger though. Kerrick one is real good, the one the boss chose was a little low on wattage I reckon, but it's still a real good one. I'll be getting a Kerrick when the one at home calls it quits.

oh ok well most of our house is tiled but the bedrooms are carpet and we have a big rug in the lounge room.

Godfreys told me the Wertheim model (Forget the model no).

Another Vacuum cleaner store told me the Miele S5210 and S5310

Myres tells me to get the Dyson.

It would be good to clean the car with a good vacuum cleaner for once as well.

Dysons pretty awesome, I've had one for years without issue. I bought it, and I haven't spent a single dollar on it since then. Other bagless vacs have filters that either need to be replaced, or clog up horribly (LG in particular comes to mind).

The basic model (499? or whatever, haven't worked in new retail for a while) is the same machine as the more expensive one, but without the telescope wrap/turbine head etc. Just buy the cheaper barrel, and buy accessories seperately - the margin in dyson accessories isn't awesome but any salesman worth their salt will give you a decent price if you get accessories with it.. get the carpet turbine head, its about 80 bucks (the price diff between the one with and without is 100) and the car cleaning kit is very nice, about 100.

The only thing that sucks about dysons (perceived suckage) is the lack of power control, features, etc. All it does is provide endless suction... and it sounds pretty nice too.

Just make sure you don't get one that you have to buy disposable bags for, that would suck, I'm glad I enlightened my missus to this when we bought ours..

Dyson here too (cyclone model) bagless type with turbo head. We've had it for about 6 years with no trouble at all (except when you pull the cord all the way too many times and the retractor starts playing up  but it still works geat. The Mrs and I agree its the best vacuum we have ever used and value for money :D Buy a Dyson mate and you wont be disappointed. There's several brands out there that try to copy the deisgn and use different colours but the Dyson rules supreme! :D

And all the copies don't have the dust removing cyclones - they use a filter to stop dust getting into the motor. The filters, they clog.. and usually need to be replaced. My mum got an LG bagless before the dyson.. and the filter would clog up to the point of being unusable in less than one tank of dust.

The mrs just bought a bagless electrolux, was fairly expensive (a tad over $600 i think) but has self cleaning filters and a motorised head, works really well...its amazing how much crap is in your carpet when you think it is clean after using a cheapo vacuum, then go over it with something that does actually lift the dirt
