Hi everyone!

Ive entered the Temora 1000 and im a little concerned that im going to be limited by a low top speed, unless someone can give me some good news! :)

my setup is: CB mirage cyborg FWD, Galant 2.0lt stroked to 2.3lt, Evo 3 gearbox locked to FWD w/mech LSD, 215/45/17 Federal RS-r semi's

My goal for the event is 240kph which i think is more than achievable with 300kw @ front wheels And my trap speed down the 1/4 mile is 199kph.

Any help would be awesome guys.

Thanks
Anthony

He does have a 5th gear he can shift into you know mik lol...
You said your trap speed on the 1/4 mile is 199kmh.... what was the rpm in 4th gear?
What rpm have you limited your stroker to?

dude with 3.55 diffs and evo3 5th running in a modified ;D evo2 box
at 7400rpm i can reach 260kph it was just flicking my shift light. but not limiter @7500

now that might be a little muddy as we know how accurate the tacho and speedos are in the mitsubishis

but it would be over 250! coz i was well past where the numbers stop!

Im limited to 7300rpm gear changes.

And on the dragstrip im in 5th gear!

If im hitting 200kph on the dragstrip over 400mtr, what can i do to up the top speed for a 1000mtr sprint???

I was goin off my time slip where i had to change into 5th last second, my shift light is set at 7300rpm so i know i could have gotten a lil bit more from 4th

fit 24" wheels?

I also have an evo box with gsr diffs and calculate mine to be around the 260kmh mark also, running 255/40R17s

Also, i have hit the limiter in 5th a couple of times and it felt pretty bloody quick! certainly alot quicker than on the dragstrip, but im still running the OEM cyborg speedo which stops @ 180kph, so i really have no clue how fast im going! HAHAHA maybe this is a good thing? :)

Get a gps! That'll give you a better Speedo....

Like George said, larger rollindiameter or convert to 3.5 ratio. Or both! Or even better, I think the cyborg ratios are even better for top end...

No doubt about it, for a 1000m sprint you're going to need the extra legs, plus with 300kw at the front wheels you're going to need less wheel spin off the launch and when shifting into 2nd gear.
Its good that you're only running FWD though as you'll only have to worry about changing your front diff crownwheel to a GSR 58-tooth item with a GSR matching output shaft, or better yet for a little more top end than a GSR ratio I have a 57 tooth crownwheel from an RVR here Ive been saving for a rainy day lol.
I hope that you've welded the centre diff in the EVO box!

I've had my Vr4, with 3.9 RS driveline at 245km/h and wasn't even at the top of 5th yet, wit 300kw atw only thing that stopped me was i tore the centre out of clutch plate. Scary stuff.

I've had my VR4 at those speeds & the car starts to get light.

It's great to have big power & be able to reach 260 on paper but I think the OP may struggle with aerodynamics at those speeds?

Actually thinking about it a little more, with all things being equal with gear ratios, weight and power to wheels wise, fwd traction will play a big part. With foot flat on the floor and launching, the fwd will be spinning its tyres and going nowhere in 1st and 2nd and part of 3rd gear. The fwd will shift into 4th gear sooner and at a shorter distance down the track than an awd. Where you shift into 4th an awd would still be in 3rd but further down the track than you. So basically yeah, youll be starting your run in 5th gear at an earlier distance down the track but will need to cover a greater distance whilst in 5th so you will need longer legs. Top end acceleration should alsk be considered. Soooo.... I would also want to bring 4th to 5th gear gap closer together for improved 5th spool and acceleration so Id also swap out the evo 5th gear and 5th subgear to gsr 5th gear and subgear. Then lengthen the overall spread of gears by using a gsr or rvr front diff crownwheel :)

Your right about the FWD spinning the wheels heaps and going up gears quicker than AWD.
I did a test once at the drags, i ran a pass with my street tyres on (Avon brand) and i got absolutely NO traction until half way through 4th gear!!! however my trap speed still ended up being 199kph!!!! Go figure....

How would one go about getting there hands on an RVR front diff crown wheel and pinion??? would love to lower my highway rpm's anyway, and if i dont like the ratio for racing/ hillclimb ill just throw in my spare g/box.

Also, i welded the centre diff properly this time... unlike the last gearbox guy that did a shoddy, pissweak job of my last one... grrr
Iv gone and welded it up with a great combo of oxy/acetylene and nickel/bronze filler rod. Has'nt broken yet!

Ah excellent that you welded the centre diff, good man.
Unless you can get a set locally from an Rvr box, the equivalent but more expensive option would be from Jacks Transmissions who have 2G DSM 57 tooth front diff crownwheels (aka ring gears) for $89. They also sell matching output pinions for $175. The output pinions are brand new price. Then you got 2 bearings to buy and shipping on top.
