Hi Guys
a quick one for the brains trust, I'm installing a progressive shift light for track days, I've identified the white wire at the back of the instrument cluster in my GSR as the wire to tap into for signal (correct me if Im wrong)

But I came across a cut wire that goes into the dash cluster, its a yellow wire with white tracer and plugs into the center of the other plug, see image below. Can anyone tell me what that wire does before I rejoin it?

On the Lancer 4G93 wiring diagram it shows the yellow wire with white trace going to the instrument panel cluster.
I read the schematic as when the ignition is powered on, a reed switch that the wire is connected to sends a signal to a 4 speed auto transmission and the ECU.
Look at the attached diagram, lower right hand side of the image. Has a square with a dashed border and a pic of a REED SWITCH in it.

On the EVO Wiring diagram the yellow wire with white trace corresponds to pin#66 on the ECU = Vehicle Road Speed Sensor.
So yeah, looking at the Lancer diagram again it goes to the auto tranny AND the ECU. So it probably makes good sense to have something to do with the speedometer.

Thanks for the help guys, given its for some sort of auto gearbox speed sensor it can stay chopped then!

Thanks again

Sean
